Pursuant to public notice, the friends of the cause of Sunday Schools held a County meeting, in the M. B. Church in this borough, on Monday last, commen cing at 10 o'clock, A. M. After reading a portion of scripture, singing a hymn, and prayer, the Convention was organized by the choice of Rev. F. Illman as Pres ident, and Rev. B. S. Everitt, as Secre tary. Committees having been appointed on business, aud enrollment of delegates, the convention proceeded to receive ver bal reports from delegates present, of the number and coudition of the Sunday Schools in the County. He on the same night hospitably enter tained one of his old prisoners, who had recently served out a term of 3ears in the Penitentiary, but when Jacob got up he found that his friend and money had absconded. We copy the following additional par- ticulars of this horrible affair, an recount 3 of which we published Jast week, irom the Wayne County Herald : We have conversed. with the gentle man who was appointed guard over the Drisoner up to hriday niinit last. From him we glean the following addi tional particulars : The burglar, upon being questioned, gave his name as William McKinsley of Halifax, Nova Scotia, where his wite and four children are living. He states that about four weeks since he became connec ted with a gang of housebreakers, the other members of which were James Weeks of Dunmore, Mike Hazel of Haw ly and John O'Brien of Philadelphia. O'Brien, is designated as the leader of the gang. Weeks furnished the informa tion as to the whereabouts of the money, and the mode of obtaining it. Yesterday afternoon as the day express train on the Pennsylvania Railroad was within four miles of this city, an axle of the head passenger car broke, and a part of it striking the bottom of the car, near the tront end, tore out part of the bottom, preciptating the occupants off their seats, on each side, to the ground, who were run over by the wheels of the rear truck. Eight persons were killed outright aud another died some hours afterwards. Only two others were badly hurt. The train consisted of seven passenger and two baggage cars. The last four cars were thrown off the track, one of which was turned on ita side. No one in these cars were seriously hurt.
