CATHARTIC PILLS OPERATE bv their powerful influence on the internal viscera to purify the blood and stimu late it into healthy action. They remove the obstructions of the stomach, bowels, liver, and other organs of the body, and, bv restoring their irregular action to health, correct, wherever they exist, such derangements as are the first causes of disease. An extensive trial of their virtues, by Professors, Phvsicians, and Patients, has shown cures of dan gerous diseases almost beyond belief, were they not substantiated bv persons of such exalted position and character as to forbid the suspicion of untruth. Their certificates arc published in my American Almanac, which the Agents below named are pleased to furnish free to all inquiring. Annexed we give Directions for their use in the complaints which they have been found to cure. Fori Costiveness. Take one or two Pills, or such quantity as to gently move the bowels. Cos tiveness is frequently the aggravating cause of Piles, and the cure of one complaint is the cure of both. No person can feel well while under a costive habit of body. Hence it should be, as it can be, promptly relieved. For Dyspepsia., which is sometimes the cause of Costiveness, and always uncomfortable, take mild d0Scs from one to four to stimulate the stomach and liver into healthy action. They will do it, and the heartburn, bodyburn, and soulbttrn of dyspepsia will rapidly disappear. "Alien it has gone, don't forget what cured you. For a Foul Stomach, or Morbid Inaction of the Boveh, which produces general depression of tho Bpirits and bad health, take from four to eight Pills at first, and smaller doses afterwards, until activity and strength is restored to the system. For Nervousness, Sick Headache, Nausea, Pain in the Stomach, Back, or Side, take from four to eight pills on going to bed. If they do not oper ate sufficiently, take more the next day until they do. These complaints will be swept out from the system. Don't wear these and their kindred dis orders because your stomach is foul. For Scrofula, Erysipelas, and all Diseases of the Skin, take the Pills freely and frequently, to keep the bowels open. The eruptions will gener ally soon begin to diminish ind disappear. Many dreadful ulcers and sores have been healed up by the purging and purifying effect of these Pills, and some disgusting diseases which seemed to saturate the whole system have completely yielded to their influence, leaving the sufferer in perfect health. Patients! your duty to society forbids that you should parade yourself around" the world covered with pimples, blotches, ulcers, sores, and all or any of the unclean diseases of the skin, because your system wants cleansing. ' To Purify the Blood, they arc the best medi cine ever discovered. They should be taken freely and frequently, and the impurities which sow the seeds of incurable diseases will be swept out of the system like chaff before the wind. 13y this property they do as much good in preventing sickness as by the remarkable cures which they arc making every where. Liver Complaint, Jaundice, and. all Bilious Affections, arise from some derangement cither torpidity, congestion, or obstructions of the Liver. Torpidity and congestion vitiate the bile and render it unfit for digestion. This is disastrous to the health, and the constitution is frequently under mined by no other cause. Indigestion is the symp tom. Obstruction of the duct which empties the bile into the stomach causes the bile to overflow "into the blood. This produces Jaundice, with a long and dangerous train of evils. Costiveness, or alternately costiveness and diarrhaia, prevails. Feverish symptoms, languor, low spirits, weariness, restlessness, and melancholy, with sometimes in ability to sleep, and sometimes great drowsiness ; sometimes there is severe pain in the side ; the skin and the white of the eyes become a greenish yellow ; the stomach acid; the bowels sore to the touch; the whole system irritable, with a tendency to fever. which may turn to bilious fever, bilious colic, bilious diarrhoea," dysentery, iS:c. A medium dose of three or four Pills taken at night, followed by two or three in the morning, and repeated a few davs.will remove the cause of all these troubles. 1 1 is wicked to suffer such pains when you can cure them for 2-5 cents. Rheumatism, "Gout, and all In flammatory Fc rers, arc rapidly cured by the purifying effects of they afford to the vital principal of Life. For these and all kindred complaints they should be taken in mild doses, to move the bowels gently, but freely. As a Dinner Pill, this is both agreeable and useful. No Pill can be made more pleasant to take, and certainly none has been made more effectual to the purpose for which a dinner pill is employed. PREPARED BY DR. J. C. LEWIS KEINEST. Stroudsburg, Oct. 22, 1857.-tf. BLANK DEEDS For .sal p. at this Office THE Only Discovery Worthy of any confidence for RESTORING THE BALD AND .GRAY. Many, since the great discovery of Prof. Wood, have attempted not only to" imitate his restorative, but profess to have discovered something that would produce results iden tical ; but they have all come and gone, be ing carried away by the wonderful results of Prof. Wood's preparation, and have been forced to leave the field to its resistless sway. Read the following: Bath, Maine, April 18th, 1859. Prof; 0. J. Wood & Co: Gents.: The let- ler I wrote you in 1856 concernfng your val uable Hair Restorative, and which you have published in this vicinity and elsewhere, has given rise to numerous enquiries touching the lacts in the case. The enquiries are, first, is it a fact of my habitation and name, as stated in the communication ; second, is it true of all therein contained; third, does my hair still continue to be in good order and of natural color 1 To all I can and do answer invariably yes. My hair is even better than in anv stage of my life for 40 years past, more soft, thrifty, and better colored ; the same is true of my whiskers, and the only cause why it is not generally true, is that the substance is washed off by frequent ablution of the face, when if care were used by wi ping the face in close connection with the whiskers, the same result will follow as the hair. I have been in the receipt of a great number of letters from all parts of New Eng land, asking me if my hair still continues to be good ; as there is so much fraud in the manufacture and sale of various compounds as well as this, it has, no doubt been basely imitated and been used, not only without any good effect, but to absolute injury. I have not used any of your Restorative of any ac count for some months, and yet my -hair is as good as ever, and hundreds have examined it with surprise, as I am now 61 years old and not a gray hair in my head or on my face; and to prove this fact, I send you a lock of my hair taken off the past week. I received your favor of two quaniFhottles last summer, lor which I am very gilteful: I gave it to my friends and thereby induced them to try it, many were skeptical until after trial, and then purchased and ued it with universal success. I will ask, a' favor, that you send me a lest by whicfuT can discover fraud in the Restorative, so by many, 1 fear, with out aumoniy iromou. A pure article will insure success, anaiy believe where good ef fects do not foliowtjthe failure is caused by the impure'article, flhich curses the inventor of the good. I deefn it my duty as hereto fore, to keep you apprised of the continued effect on my hair, as I assure all who enquire of me of my unshaken opinion of its valuable results. 1 remam,?dear sir, yours, A. C. RAYMOND. Prof. O. J. Wood: Dear Sir. I would cer tainly be doing you a great injustice not to make known to the world, the wonderful, as well as the unexpected result I have expe rienced from using one bottle of your Hair Restorative. Alter using every kind of lie storatives extant, but without success, and finding my head nearly destitute of hair, I was finally induced to try a bottle of your Hair Restorative. Now, candor and justice compel me to announce to whoever may read this, that I now possess a new and beautiful growth of hair, which 1 pronounce richer and handsomer than the original was. I will able remedy to all who may feel the necessi ty of it. Respectfully yours, REV. S. ALLEN BROCK. P. S. This testimonial of my approbation for your valuable medicine (as you are aware of) is unsolicited: but if you think it worthy a piace among the rest, insert if yon wish ; if not destroy and say nothing. Yours, &c. Rev. S. A. B. The Restorative is put up in bottles of three sizes, viz: large, medium, and small; the small holds a pint, and retails for one dollar per bottle; the medium holds at least twenty per cent, more in proportion than the small, retails for two dollars per bottle; the large holds a quart, 40 per cent, more in pro portion, and retails for S3.
