The' Bachelor, 'in. spite of Ins boasting Iriends,
Is.a : miserable fellow .at least;
And Tut for Ills jeers at old maidism,
We'd cheerfully let him rest.
He-boasts of his freedom from wifely thrall,
And' laughs at connubial chains,
And blesses his stars he has none of the cares
Of .which the staid married man complains.
But-a! I the while he. is a greater elave, .
Health, pleasures and" appetites sway,
For 'without their exictement the evening is
dull
And -drearily passes the day.
His rooms, for- a home the old bachelor has
none,
Are "quare looking places,,! ween
Tobacco,- ciga'rs, perfumesbooks and clothes,
Promiscuously jningSed, are seen.
He comes down to breakfast, "when Morpheus
uuiua 11 1 in
TooMoh'g in her soothing embrace,
T6'par'ta.ke of cold coffee, and, still worse, to
meet
A. frown on his landlady's face.
Tho' lie .tastes not of food, no one cares e'er
to' ask
The old bachelor the state of his health,
Or offers .to make some savory dish,'
Unless he's a bachelor of wealth.
Then perchance a toad eater, who glories at
sight
Of a bilious cadaverous look,
Wjll contrive, under cover of friendship, to
. make , .
Him the prey of some eating-house cook.
As he cares for no one but himself in his life,
"Affection's sure test, a bright tear,"
Will never bedew, when he passes away,
The crusty old bachelor's bier.
To the man who'd enjoy real comforts, and
With the cases thatattend on this life,
Ourndvicc is, go purchase a new suit from
Pyle,
And set forward in search of a wife.

Dogs How to use them Profitably.
The most profitable uho that nine-tenths
of all the dogs in tbia couutry could be

Female Health ! Female Health !
Thousands of females suffer from derange
mcnts peculiar to the sex. First, and most
common among these is, Female Weakness

attendants, Lassitude, Prostration, Lame or
Weak Back, and General Debily. No one
can be entirely well who thus suffers, and in
hundreds of cases health is utterly under
mined. Uld-school medicines and drugs do
but little good often, much injury; but
Humphrey s Specific Homeopathic Fe

promptly, and curing permanently. A dol

nostrums, or six months attendance on a
doctor. Six boxes for 1. Single boxes 25

To Prof. O. J. Wood : Dear Sir: Your
Hair Restorative is rapidly gaining popularity
in this community. I have had occasion to
lay prejudice aside, and give your IJuir Re
storative a perfect lest:
During the year 1854, T was so nnfortuale
as to be thrown from my sulky asaiutt a
rock near the roadside, from which my-head
received a most terrible blow; causing a great
deal of irritation, which communicated to the
brain and external surface of the head, from
the effects of which my hair was finally de
stroyed over the entire surface of the head.
From the time I first discovered its dropping,
nowover, up lo tlie time of its total disanuear-
ance, I employed evervthinir I could think
of, being a professional man myself, and, as
l thought, understanding the nature of the
disease, but was finally defeated in every pre
scription advanced.
These and no other circumstances induced
me to resort to your worthy Hair Restorative,
which I have every reason to believe, pro
duced a very happy result: two months after
the first application, I had as beautiful a head
of young hair asl oversaw, for which I cer
tainly owe you my most sincere thanks.
Rest assured, dear sir, I shall use mv influ

You can publish this if you think proper.

Dear Sir: I feel it my duty as well as my
pleasure, to state to you the following cir
cumstance, which you can use as you think
proper. A, gentleman of this place, (a law
yer,) has been bald ever since his early
youth; so much so, that he was compelled
to wear a vir. lie was induced to use a
bottle of your "Hair Restorative," which he
liked very much; and after using some two
or three bottles his hair grew out quite lux
uriantly, and he now has a handsome head
of hair. The gentleman's name is Bradford,
and as he is very well known iu our adjoin
ing counties, many persons can testify to the
truth of this statement; I give it to you at.
the request of Mr., Bradford. You can sell
a greal deal of your Hair Restorative in this
and the adjoining counties if you have the
proper agents. Yours, &c.
THOMPSON SURGHNOR.
Dr. Wood: Dear Sir: Permit me to express
the obligations I am under for the entire re
storation of my hair to its original color ;
about the time of tuy arrival in the United
States it was rapidly becoming gray, but
upon the application of your "Hair Restora
tice" it soon recovered its original hue. I
consider your Restorative as a very wonder
ful invention, quite efficacious as well as a
greeable. S. THALBERG.
The Restorative is put up in bottles of
three sizes, viz: large,, medium, and small;
the small holds a pint, and retails for one
dollar per bottle; the medium holds at least
twenty per cent, more in proportion than the
small, retails for two dollars per bottle; the
large holds a quart, 40 percent, more iu pro
portioiii and retails for S3.
