Scrofula, or King's Evil, is a constitutional disease, a corruption of the blood by which this fluid becomes Titiatcd, weak,' and poor. Being irt the circrdation, it pervade tlic whole body, and may burst out m disease on anv part of it. "No organ is free from its attacks, nor is thcro one winch it may not destroy. The scrofulous taint is variously caused bv mercurial disuse, low Imne, disordered or unhcalthr food, impure air, filth, and filthy habits, tlic depressing view, and, above all, by the venereal infection. Whatever be its onjym. it i hereditary in tlie constitution, descending: " from parents to children unto the third and fourth ireiicmtioil ; " indeed, it seems to he the rod of Uim who says, ' I will visit the iniquities of the fathers ujwn" their children." Its efforts commence by deposition from the Mood of corrupt or uleeious matter, which, in the lungs, liver, and internal organs, is teimcd tubetdcs-; in the glands, swellings ; and on the Mirface, eruption or orcs. This foul corrup tion, which genders in the blood, depresses the energies of life, s-o that scrofulous constitutions not onlv suffer from scrofulous complaints, but thev have far less power to withstand the attacks of other diseases: consequently, vast numbers pcrwh bv disorders winch, although not scrofu lous in 'their nature are still rendered fatal by this taint in the svstem. Most of the consump tion which decimates the human family has its origiivdirectlv in this scrofulous contamination ; and manv destructive diseases of the liver, kid nev.s brain, and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from or are aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people arc j-crofulous ; thoir pereons arc invaded by this lurking infec tign, and their health is undermined by it. To cleanse it from the system wc must renovate the blood bv an alterative medicine, and invigorate it by healthy food and exercise. Such a medi cine wo supply in AYER'S Compound Extract of Sarsaparilla, the most effectual remedy which the medical fkill of our times can devise fortius cvcry-wherc prevailing and fatal malady. It is combined from tlic most active remcdials that have been discovered for the expurgation of this foul disor der from the blood, and the rescue of the sys tem fioin its destructive consequences. Ilenco it should be employed for the cure of not only scrofula', but alsothoe other affections which ari.c from it, such as Ekuitivi: and Skin Dis kasiis, St. Anthony's Finn, Hose, or Eky Mri:i.AS, Pimples, Pustules, Blotches, I'.lains and Boils, Tumors, Tetter, and Salt Rheum, Scald Head, Kixoworm, Rheumatism, Syphilitic and Mekcukial Diseases, DnorsY, Dyspepsia, Debility, and, indeed, all Complaints arising from Viti vtkd 01: ljircitE Bi.oon. The popular belief in " impurity of the Wood" is founded in truth, for scrofula is a degeneration of the blood. The particular purpose and virtue of tJiis Sarsa pariila is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid, .without which sound health is impossible in contaminated constitutions. Ayer's Cathartic Pills, FOR ALL THE PURPOSES OF A FAMILY PHYSIO, are so composed that disease within the range of their action can rarely withstand or evade them. Their penetrating properties search, and cleanse, ami invigorate every portion of the human or ganism, correcting its diseased action, and restor ing its healthy vitalities. As a consequence of thcc properties, the invalid who is bowed down with pain or physical debility is astonished to find his health or energy restored by a remedy nt once 50 simple and inviting. Not only do they cure the every-day com plaints of even- body, but also many formidable ami dangerous'discases. The agent below named is pleased to furnish gratis my American Alma nac, containing certificates of their cures, and directions for "their use in the following com plaints : Costivaiess, Heartburn, HcadacJie aris ing from a disordered Stomach, Nausea, Indiges tion, Pain in and Morbid Inaction of the Bowels, Flatulntcy, Loss of Appetite, Jaundice, and other kindred complaints, arising from a low state of the body or obstruction of its functions. Ayer's Cherry Pectoral ron the rapid cure or Coughs, Colds, Influenza, Hoarseness, Croup, Bronchitis, Incipient Consump tion, and for the relief of Consumptive Patients in advanced stages of th9 dis ease. So wide is the field of its usefulness, and so numerous arc the cases of its cures, that almost cverv Miction of country abounds in persons, publicly known, who have been restored from alarming and even desperate diseases of the lungs by its use. When once tried, its superi oritv over every other medicine of its kind is too apparent to escape observation, and where its virtues are known, the public no longer hesitate what antidote to employ for the distressing and duugeus affections of the pulmonary organs that are incident to our climate. "While many inferior remedies thrust upon the community have failed and been discarded, tills has gained friends by ever' trial, conferred benefits on the afflicted shcy can never forget, and produced cures too numerous and too remarkable to be forgotten. prepared by DH...
