Mr. John La Mountain, aeronaut, is a pain in this city, where he will remain a few days. He has made arrangement., for the construction in Bo.too of a bal loon with which he designs to make in attempt to cross the Atlantic next sum mer. The money is to be furnished by a wealthy gentleman of the modern Athens who has sufficient confidence in the prac ticability of the scheme to make a ven ture in it. The balloon is to be of silk, with an acensive power which wilPmake it capable of carrying a life-toat stocked with provisions aud four passengers. The power It-is designed to employ is the guo-cotton engine one of which, owned by a gentleman of Springfield, iliass., has been tested, and found to operate satis factorily. Before the venture at sailing ojer the ocean, it is de-igned to make three long voyages, s-tarting from West ern cities, for tbc purpose of te&ting the capacity of the balloon, and the effect of the employment of machinery. Mr. Wise tbo "father of ballooning in America," who has been in con-ultation with Mr. La Mountain, approves of his plan in all its details, and will give bim the benefit of his remarkable experience in sugges tions as to the manner of carrying it out.
