115,54, bet 62s declined one per , cent. at
the first board, but gradually advanced
again to 115;4. The market In sym
pathy with gold, however, is vary dull
and does, not even reepOnd to the firmer
tone of the gold market. Swore are
few and sellers quite plenty at every
rise.
Gold looked very dull, opening in 127,

closing between 128% and 128 N. The
stunt Interest It very large and a sharp
rally may set In at any moment., al
thongh It Is meet. likely that a point
nearer 125 will be reached in the de
alining scale.
Stocks are stranger end higher; the
market la nevertheless only supported
by the lento boldera and the covering of
the short interest, which Is always
largely increased at any advance. The
ultimate tendency for stocks la, how
ever, for lower prices, and a general
settling down of Values. •
Money keeps on increasing in atnn-

immediate relief; no long paper OM be
discounted at any of the regular dis
counting establishments, end outside
paper bus to anbmit to high rates of In-

The oil business Is devoid of any thing
reeW new or very important. The
market is lbw brit locative, strong, but
devoid of stability, and withal In a
very peculiar condition. Refiners do
not seem disposed to sell, being appre ,
Derisive of a still further advancs, while
after all they have but little If any more
margin now than they had two or three
weeks Once, as erode has advanced

and It is not to be expected that the ag.

anything lake that of October, and It
Is pretty certain that the exports from

It at well known to the American trade
that. ho relined oils leaveour ports which
do not bear the government Impaction,
standing fairly above the legal Igniting
