nominal. The receipts for the past
twenty-four hours amounted to 900 bar
rels of flour, 11,200 bushels of wheat.

oats. The shipments for the same time
were 1,000 barrels of Hour, 18,000 bush
els of wheat, 3,400 bushels of corn, 3,900
bushels of oats.

RIVER NEWS
The weather continues cloudy, hot and
unsettled, with frequent showers. We
were in hopes that the "wet -spell" had
passed, but our expectations thus far
have not, been realized. The river is

The. Lorena arrived from St. Louis on
Monday evening, and there have been no
arrivals since. -
Capt. J. C. Vanhojk, was to have, left
for St. Louis yesterday, at which

The Glendale did
ot get off for St.
Louisi yesterday as expected, but pass
engers and shippers can' rely on her
leaving to-day.
The Colossal and Mollie Ebert passed
Omaha •on Saturday en route for St.
Louis, from Fort Benton. .:
The Andrew Ackley arrived at Fort
[Benton on the 26th of last month, with
120 tons of freight, having been obliged
to leave tha balance of her cargo at Cow
Island.
The Wauanita, arrived at St. Louis on
Saturday, and the R. C. Gray left there
the same day for Pittsburgh.
* Henry L. Parke, a well known steam
boat clerk, died at the residence of his
father-in-law, Capt. Greenlee, on Mon
day. Ha was second clerk.on the Leoni
das for several years.
The Julia No. 2, for Zanesville, is the
only departure we have to record..

announced for St. Louis forthwith.
—4. D. Paul, a Cincinnati and New Or
leans pilot, died in Newport Saturday.
—Jo Rutledge, who piloted the. Jennie
Brown from Pittsburgh to St. Louis,
over the falls and all, has returned to
Cincinnati, and will go round on the
Glendale. .
—The Great Republic, New Orleans:to
St. Louis, and the Rubicon, St. Louis to
Pittsburgh, were at Cairo on• Sunday,
and the Glasgow, St. Paul to Pittsburg,
was at Louisville the same day.\
—The steamer Eureka, was 'sunk in
the ObionSiver a short time since, has
been raised and will re-enter the Dyers
tourg and. Hale's Point trade just as soon
*lithe necessary repairs can be made.
—Up the Mississippi the light freight
offerings are driving a number of boats
off. The Gault is laid up at • Fulton,
while the Imperial and Clipper, of the
Robison line, are laid up at Winona.
—The La Crosse Democrat of the 6th
sayS: Three boats were launched , on
Saturday evening last, two being steam
ers, and.the third being one which we
shall soon have occasion to notice as the
greatest oddity, in the shape of a float
ing vessel, that has ever been seen on
Western waters.
—Captain -Tom Rea is putting the ma
chinery of the Rowena into the. Silver
Bow. The engines are of the following
dimensions: Eighteen and three.eighths
in6h cylinder, six feet stroke, and we
suppose that with this increase of power
the Silver Bow will rank any boat afloat
for speed and general worth.
—On Saturday night, July 3, J. W.
Gunn, the , commander of the steamer
Rob Roy, was presented, at Keokuk,
with a gold watch valued at 5300. It was
the gift of his river Mende, a large num
ber of persons residing in towns on the
packet line assisting in its purchase.—
The project of presenting him with a
watch was unknown to the captain until
everything had been amply prepared for
the occasion. A banquet followed, in
which a large number of the captain's
friends participated.
—The Cincinnati Commercial "goes
for" the reporter of the Gazette of that
