WEDNEzDAY, March 11, 1869.
The resumption of navigation has im
varted a 'better feeling in commercial
aircles, and hopes aro entertained that
the Spring trade will• now open up in
-earnest. As yet, however, the demand,
for almost everything is confined mainly
to supplying immediate-wants, and the
volume of busineis in the aggregate i s
light; .while so far as prices are concerned'
there is no essential change. - Both Grain
end Flour continue very dull, and Gra' -

RIVER NEWS.
Both rivers continue to swell steadily
at this point with twelve feet six inches
in the channel by the Monongahela, and
thirteen feet by the Allegheny marks
last evening. The weather has again
turned quite cold, and the ther
mometer did not at any time rise
above 24. The Allegheny was putting
out considerable ice last evening, and we
expect to see it bank full this mining..
None of the towboats will venture out
until after-the Allegheny ice gets out of
the way.
The Tom Farrow and Barges, from New
Orleans, were due last night. • '
Capt. Dean, has changed the destina

duce the Fayette.(formerly one the

been thoroughly overhauled and greatly

tion to the trade. We have not heard
what days she will take, leaving. here.
