: dull, and devoid of any new or really im

We . can report a fair local demand for most
of the leading articles, but there is no ship
ping inquiry for anything, and there is an
. ! almost entire absence of a speculative feel-

considerable complaint is still made about
the difficulty in making collections. •

MONEY
Reports that the Treasury was about to
• ' sell gold and bonds were again raised to
,
' day, but without affecting any of the mar

kets. The National Banks are receiving

a large amount of currency daily, and are
depositing their surplus with the'Assistant
Treasurer for three per cent. certificates.
Eight hundred and, fifty thousand dollars

were thus deposited on Saturday and to
day. The Treasury is thus likely to re
' calve all the money it Wants. The con
.
tinned issue of these certificates, of which
about sixteen millions' are left on hand,
, must add to the ease in money and the
general, buoyancy •in Wall street. Sher
. man's bill, which was, reported , to the Sou
-1 ate to-day, is regarded as likely to cease
• all the cotton business of the South to be
; done on a gold basis, and tend to advance
the premium on gold. Money very easy to

The Armadillo, Captain D. H. Swaney,
is up for Cincinnati and Louisville.
The Messenger, Captain Jesse Dean, is
announced for New Orleans forthwith,' as
is also the Maggie . Hays, Captain B. C.
Martin, for St. Louis. These are both tip
top boats, and as such, may be commended
to the public.
The Sallie brought up among other items
of freight, 373 barrels of molasses and 97
hhds sugar.
The Bellevertion, Captain J. J. Darragh,
follows the Maggie Hays to St. Louis. -
