fiILEEP AND LAIUDS
The number - of Sheep and Lambs on sale
to-day was not as large as it has been for
several weeks past, and as a general thing
they were manly Inferior in quality; many
of those on sale were "tail ends" left over
from last week, and some of them were so
poor as to be hardly ably to stand up.'
Prime fat Sheep, if . there had have been
any finch on sale, would hive sold readily
at an - advance. but "scalawags " of which
the supply was, mainly made up to-day,
Continue dull- as ever. l'he former we
have no doubt would have sold readily at
five cents, while the latter may be quoted
from 'B2 down to 50 cents per bead. We
were quoted the, following sales:
Adam Eckert sold 51 at 82 to 83,75 for
sheen and $2,75 for lambs. ,
Ernmell & Co; report 410 head at an aver
age of 82,25 for sheep and $1,50 for lambs.
Garwin Jr. Co., report 88 sheep at an
average Of 81,60.
John Simmers reports' 150 . sheep and
lambs at an average of t'2.
Stakely cL Bro had seven hundred head
of sheep and lambs which were sold at 50
els to §2,50 for sheep, and $l,OO to $2,00 for
lambs:
J R Prin 'gle 116 Mercer Co. sheep and
lames at $1,37 to $3,00.
Flinner Sheitementle 172 head at $1 to
$2,50 for sheep, and 75 to $2,00 for lambs.
Chas. Maggi bold for Davis 129 sheep at
75 to $1,50.
Frank Kraus 75 head sheep at 32 to $3,50.
Wick k Co., 320 sheep at $1 to 32,50.
Emery & Co., 90 sheep at $1,50 to $2.75.

J. Rhin. 86 sheep at $1 to $2.
HOGS. .
The hog market is a little more -active
thQretail demand as is alwa3 s'the• case,
when the weather commences to get cool,
increa.ing somewhat, though prices, com
pared with other stock, is too high. , We
quote at $lO to. KI per ' cwt for light to

Ist. Spot oil does not seem fo meet with
mu& jnquiry, and there is put little offer
offering; we heard - Of some offers to buy at
lige, but there seems to be no - sellers at
anything less than 12c. The market baits
present condition is nothing more nor less
than a huge problem, and it is one which
both buyers and sellers, "bulls" and
"be as" are doing their:titmost.to solve,
hut, thus far, "without success. The:future
course of the trade is the great topic of dis
oUssion, and the views advanced,: both
pro. and con. are very conflicting.
GEMEE!
The market with eiception of apparently
being a little stronger, has undergone no
important change since Saturday. The _
sales reported were: 2,000 bbls-last half
September at 31X; 1,000 first half Septem
ber at 31; and- 1,000 each September, and
October at 3 Spotoil May be quoted in
the absence-ht sales--at-30N to 31; while
from October to March, 500, each month, is
nominal at 29 to 223i—thehistssale reported
for that particular delivery; being at 2934.
As in the case of Crude, the market opened
up a little stronger under the influence of
the advance in Atwerp but subsequently
eased up slightly, when a decline of half a
franc was reported; prices as already noted
have undergone no quotable *change com
pared with last week, and there is no dispo-,.
