Government securities were very firm,
and had 'advanced 1,( per cent. on last
night's prices, but at the advance, there
were some large sales to realize, and a

Forties • are sought after in preference to
- the new issues. It is quite likely that 1864
bonds will be'regalarly quoted in Europe,
and to that end foreign bankers have been
