consider that at all an elegant fashion, but
as the mode, it is our duty to ehronielelt.
A few attempts have been made - tit - Intro.
duce some very ugly forms for bonnets, but
those at present in wear—the i.listalane"
and the nLambelleare so very becoming
and elegant that we sincerely trust. that
they will not be replaced.
Crinoline, in spite of all the abuse and
prognoeticattons against it, is still worn.
The form. Is very tench altered, but the
skirt, let it be of what material It may, in
variably has a few steels, hat only round
the bottom. For outdoor wear, with the
short dresses, a small, round Crinoline Is
worn, (no lady ever attempts to appear in a

The hats worn are exactly the Sante
those Introduced last month, and are orna

being generally velvet, felt or beaver.
There is an endless variety of lace and
muslin bodice, both high and low, intended
to be warn with corselets. Some are ex

formed of alternate medallions of lace and
satin stitch embroidery.
We have sees several very elegant inns

much the deepest. These points were eon.
rounded on both sides with white lace, and
ornamented with small medallions.
Gloves for evening wear are invariably,

this Mahlon succors, but do not think It will
take any stand wall spring, for which sea
son it is decidedly moresultable. The coif
fure of flowers, brooch, .back-comb and ear
rings, worn to corresdond with the dress,
are exceedingly pretty when worn by young
ladles, but are totally unsuitable after a
certain age.

The Crosby Opersii Mouse Lottery.
The gay and festive, spirts of Chicago
had quite a rich tittle over the drawing Of
the Opel* MMus. -They were hi doubt for
a long time of the real owner, (not yet made
clear) of the lucky.fgetO. ticket; and con
spired to make numerous Parties believe
that they ware the lucky parties.. First
they made a raid upon Itackdrlver, and
had htm almost makir in'the belief that he
was the owner of the float prize. He, of
course, stood the ' , ticker. for the crowd
until his pocket-book was exhausted of its
Minds and he could realise no more Mio4
the Strength of being the reotted owner or
sueti.weaith. Hest they visited John Mey
er a saloonr-the identical beer vender who
was credited here with the good leek—stud,
In-his absence, told the - bar-keeper that
John had drawn the Opera House. The
faittifed attendant of John's. intrzeSts,
elated with his employer's good formes)
set hp the beer to ail whO called, and asked
for no pay, as the establishment could cer
tainly stand a free blow over the head of
the drawing. John. Myers, who had been
Out, returned and found his saloon crowd
ed with bummers,
who were cupped in
pouring down his good lager Witt gts feet
as the iar.torider could draw It. He
at Once vroclaiiited tbat.he held no ticket
in 'ter rammed lottery,. and *hut down
upon the free blow of the 'Teutonic bever
age. Hu loot anion kegs of beer through'
the verdant bar -keeper'. liberality. Other'
scenes of like character transpired In the
city, and some very tidledloha stories are
told. Tile this owner of the tufty ticket 1.11
supposed to be . a worthy miller named A.
IL Lee, of Prairie du Hector, Illinois. He
is poor, and the plite could not have fallen
to More worthy individual. Prom the
tone of the Chicago papers we Infer that all
was transacted fairly, and that no °beetles
was none, every ticket holder having a fair
"shake" for the coveted prize. Although a
great number of tlckets were sold in.l'itts
burgh, we believe not a single prize was
drawn by any of our citizens. The best
