A NOILTIIELLO DENECICILAT 011Thli MllO2l. -From his fait entrance into politics until he was quietly laid on the shelf by his friends, Charles J. Inkeell, in all, his practices, has proved ti himself .heartiess and designing demagogue. On all 0 ns he bee pandered to' the lowest feelinge of th mob and never scrupled to sacrifice both op inion ad principle in order to gain any epeeist purp ohe had in view . To his example and teaohing the present demoralized condition of demoorstivolities in Philadelphia BO much deprecated b the better class of idsmocate, may be traced. A c l oncelied pedant in his eirn library, an aristocrat in the refined circles of Washington, he was a brawling radical-nay, a leveling agration--whon ho found it compatible with his political interests to visit the purlieus of his district for ilia purpose of securing the votes of the "masses." A few of his old politi cal friends in New York, on the occasion of a celebrition of the anniversary of the battle of New Orleane, by the Tammany Society, hare drawn from him a letter, in which, after glori fying Gen. Jackson as a patriot, soldier and Christian, he epeake of the Union and the imaginary dangers which menace it. Like a good and true democrat, Mr. Ingersoll throws the whole blame upon the friends of freedom in the North, and has not a word of censure or complaint to bestow on the democratic minority in Congress, backed by the press and the legis lative authorities eolith of the Potomac, who counsel treason, and preach sedition every day of theirlives. Our object, for the present, is to direct attention to a portion of Mr. logersoll's lelier, in which he flippantly propoeee a division of the Union, as Übe thought it a very laudable project. It is difficult to realize that the writer is a Northern man by birth as well as residence, and, a lineal descendent of a New _England family; bet such is really tan fact. Under the bale ful influence of his political associatioae, to which ho has sacrificed whatever was originally good in him, he revels in trelusen as if it was the proper fold for the display of his talents arid energies. Without further comment, we quote the extract from his extraordinary letter to New York, to Which we have made allusion: "If the Abolitionlida will not attest their sin cerity by martyrdom, the Only other remedy for their sufferings is disunieu. And as root and beneath, Free Soil, Halms I Aid Societies, Terri torial flexion ' and all other contrivances by sots of Assembly, Governors, Jpdges, mobs and what not, to nullify the Constitution, are palpable violations of it, tho true and permanent relief for Abolitionism of all shades, denominations and degrees will be Separation from the States, departing from the pledges of their forefathers, _ and constituting themselves openly in another, if they think so, better Confederacy, without the contamination of Slavery. The New Beg land States with New York colonized by them, confederated with the Canada., and other British, North American provinces, might form another Union-a North-Eastern Union-steparated from us, who can endure our present condition. The North-Eastern Union would have the benefit ;of all the English &Ulm= of Slavery, with fifty thousand tegitive slaves to exemplify their hu manity, and we ehould be tenth the Scaith-Wwt. ern Union, as always heretofore with politics, interests, habits and progrF, such as Washing ton, Jeffersin, Madison, onroe, Jackson, Ty ler, Polk and Taylor, slave-holding Clots( 31a• - gistrates, have, from! firsto last, impressed on t ns, and, as we think; much to our prosperous development; and all th e 'orthern Presidents, the two Adameee and Van Dared, concurring in their system of Goveinmen ." And yet theseee.ntimente are approved by the leading joaroals of the droaratio party pub lished in the North!'
