R. W. Poindexter, No. 97 Water street, is the agent of the company, and has been noting for them for some three years past. ?ASSUME RAILWATS.—The stook in the Etna railway, which runs up the Allegheny, on the west aide of the river, to Sharpsburg, has boon all taken, the major part of it by fire individu als. Thus we have now under way, as far at lewd as the preliminary steps are concerned, six railways, to wit: the Lawrenceville, East Lib erty, Birmingham, Manchester, Etna and Mo nongahela. For the stook in most of them, there was quite a scramble, and although it commands a premium, not a share is in the market. The Lawrenceville road is the only one ad vanced towards completion. The workmen are now on Butler street, laying the track, and within half a mile of the Garrison walls. Care run, though not to carry passengers, as far as I the toll house, on the borders of Lawrenceville, and over two miles from Fifth street. A seventh road is now projected, viz: from this city to Mansfield, one of the most delightful suburbe of Pittsburgh. It will goon be erected into the borough of Richvale, or at least so we are informed. In our advertising columns this morning may be found a notice for a meeting of the stockholders of the Temperanceville nod Nobleetown Turnpike and Plank Road Company, at which the proposition to lay down a railway track along their pike and road will be consid• ered. Tho grade of the road all the way from here to Mansfield is such that a track could he laid with small expenso for grading. In feet it is we believe a well estahlishecrfact that a horse railcar can bo drawn anywhere an omnibus will go, and at much less expeme of horseflesh. Doubtless, however, a track to Mansfield while in time it would pay, would be the molt expen sive of any yet projected. The meeting referred to above wilt be held at Ilare's Hotel on the Ist of September next. Tete Wnact;s.—The contractors for takiug oul thi wrecks at the lauding are getting along well. Tile wreck of the Jaireee Wood, which was the heavicet and perhaps the worst of the lot, has been raised bodily. Two sets of jack BOTOWe wire put in place and chains passed wider the bottom. Thus the whole was brought above miter, the dirt shoveled out, and now the wreck is eadito be taken out. The J 11. Cone will Ile trouble touch, as she lies nearly all out of wader. The Cremona will give the greatest amount of labor, as she was sunk in ilkep water and not a vestige of her to be seen. The ten boats are to be taken out au eves age cost each of sl2t; - - THUOWIEO STONES.—CIark ilosack •ae before Aid. The speculative list shows consideruhle strength, a moderate concession in prices, bringing forward sufficient parchment to render the weakness bat temporary. This is the chief feature albs mar ket to-day, the closing prices being better than the opening Ggares. Tilu prominent item of the shale list, is a reactive. in Michigan guaranteed stork, which is 12 per rout lower than the highest point. The demand for the rash stock has materially fallen cif. The strongest of the Western R. R. Stocks was Michigan Central and Rock Island, both of which are $ par cent better; the former closes at 441; the latter at 65. Erb:oat:4re* were weaker, but the bonds are advancing; firsts brought SG; thirds 61 in bid; fur fourths 44. Pacific Mall buoyant at 70, a rise of 11. New York Central closes at 731 rash, after set. ling at the board as low as 721, sellers 80 days. Coal stocks are steady at former prices, without sates. State Stocks are without essential change. sl6souri Sixes 1 per cent higher. The Directors of the Eric Road meat to-day to re port the committee, and appoint and prepare a plan of re-organization. The razed total is large, $2,- 500,000; it includes all mortgage bonds at par; the unsecured bonds at 80 per cent. in stock ; and stock at 20 ; in new stock & subscription of about $1,000,- 000 is called for, fur the purpose of lifting the road from its embarrassments, and the bondholders will bo asked to take stock fur the 'coupons maturing with twelve to twenty-four months. The last two propositions strike us as likely to raise determined opposition on the part of those immediately affected by them. The exchange on Europe is very unsettled, and the rates are somewhat nominal. London is about 110 and Paris 515 for the best bills. The Harmonia for Hamburg, to morrow, will take about $lOO,OOO in gold and $50,00t) in silver. The Arabia, from Boston, takes none from this city. The boards of the Panama Railroad Co., and of the Pacio. Hail Co. meet to-morrow to consult upon the details of the management and disposition of boats just purehiused from &feasts. Brown, the Adri atic, Baltic and Atlantic. The movement In 10011(7 is very uniform, and no inconvonion. ; much lens stringency in felt in any quarter, the liberal accommodation of the banks keeps the rate of discount in the open market at about 7® 7i for prime paper maturing this side of January. Call loans to the stock houses are G per cent. With an irregular business at [pi ph 7. The Erie Board is in session to day, upon a plan to re-organise the Company. No report has trans. pirod of the scheme. The Peninsular Bank of Detroit went to protest to-day upon the drafts upon tbehanks of tho State; it is one of the oldest banks in Michigan. At the second board, prices were strong, and closol in favor of sellers. Sterling exchange fur the Roston shsamor closed dull at 110 for best bills, and little doing. Money continues to work easy, and upon government and State Stocks tall loans aro made at 5. 1.1. k notes 7 per cent, and it is very prime and abort paper which will pass 111.11.tliti0 at gi. Between boards, Stocks were higher, Now York Central ceiling at 734. 733, and Rock Wand at 65(..11.5,1.
