Tbe Or»t IrUbHeriT*!—Extraordinary Bodily'nanlfeatatlons. The last eteamer/brlngs intelligence of the continual increase and power of the remarkable religious revival in Ireland,' It la a prominent lopio in the newspapers we rcceivo trom Great Britain. One number of tbe Banner of Ulster boa four columns in email typo of reports of the various meetings held, chiefly in Belfast, on the previous Babbath, and at tho conclusion apolo gizes to Us readerf by saying: "So wide-spread—we might also say general— is the rtmal movement, that it is quite impos sible for. us to present anything like a full detail ef its progress and results, or satisfactory no tices of any but the moat prominent cases.” i The same paper says: "The movement,: which must shortly arrest national attention, progresses in a manner which is a subject of! astonishment to all who witness it. There are i now comparatively few who are skeptical as to the eerioos and eolemn character of the manifes tations—even among those who nt first were skeptical We have before spoken of the extraordinary bodily exercises connected with this work. The following, from au address made by the Rev. Ur. M’Naaghton, will give some further idea of (he character of this elogular manifestation: "Tbero were bodily effects produced on the people- there that he oould not account for.—* Persons would be suddenly elrnok down as if they were dead, and not nnder the influence of exeUiog things said to them; for tbe same thing happened to them when they were alone, when no person was atfeakiog to them. They were struck down ana seemed to be in torture, mental or bodily, lying with tbelr face towards heaven, and their lips moving as if they were praying with great agony for mercy. He had known a case of a man from'tho markfi, after having sold some produce, passing along ihe roadside, and eoaotlnghls money to see whether it was oil right, when be was etrack down, as if eon-struck, and his money scattered on tbe road. Persons oomiog up assisted him into a house and foaod that he was troubled fn soul about his condition. And just yesterday .(Saturday) af ternoon, when be was on his way to tbe -train,' passing through the (own of Ballymena, he saw a crowd of people gathered at one of the corners of the street; he thought it was rooad one who bad been stricken down; he found that i( was a person from the country, come into town on business, suddenly struck dawn, and there she was, eobbiogand praying for meroy, and confess ing her sins, in a slate of great mental agony and distress He made his way through the crowd, and prayed over her, and she became calmer, and was taken into a house adjacent, fle was then obliged to leave and eomo away. There were eomo of the cates, which it wasquito manifest, whatever might boAbe.operatingcause in the hand of God, (hey cohid not explain on 'philosophical principles. He tbooght It was desirable that these'manifestations of a bodily kind should be controlled,as far aspoeetble. In tlaesof revival,-when the good seed was sown, there wonld always be extravagances in spcoch or act, and his only subjeot of wonder was, not to come In contact with each o&aes,.but that there were eo few of them. These were the two remedies to which resort was m&do when persons were elruok dowo by some sudden impulse of their minds. The Ro man Calholio priest of Ballymena had been prescribing holy water and wine but Christian ity bad prescribed a different remedy—that is, tho eingiDg of praise to God, and prayer for bis meroy. Many connected with the Arian Church had been brought under interesting impressions, and they immediately abandoned their Arianiam aod refused to have anything more to do with it. And a number of.lho Roman Catholics, like the - converts of old fa similar circumstances, brought ihcir books of Popish devotion and made a boa fire of them, learning the valuo of the one book— the Word U aeeme to be cno of the pe culiarities of these etricken down cases the per sons ore.eo thoroughly engrossed with their own feeliogs that they do not listen to a word others would have to say.”’ The Bonner of Ulster, speaking of what is called "The Pound District,” one of the worst scottons of Belfast, says: "We have heard of one instance in which three persona in one house were thus brought under oonviotion; and after a Christian gentleman had offered op prayer, four er five others were brought under eating-influence. In another case, that of no intelligent young man, who was euddealy prostrated, although ho bos since been nnablo to leave his bed, he has not ceased to speak of Christ as bis only hope to the neigh bors aodifrlends who have visited him. It is calculated by a gentleman who is well acquainted with tho district, and who has been very earefal la his estimate, that there have not boon fewer than elxty cases"of conviction—many of them followed by conversion—ln that portion of the town alone. We learn that on the nights of Sat urday and Sunday at least one-half of the people of tho locality were praying end singing for the grealerp&rt of the time In their houses. ” The Belfast News Letter says; "This extraordinary movement is extending Ueelfin Belfast In the most rapid manner. Pray er meetings aro held almost every evening, and ore attended by immense crowds, many amongst whom are effeoted with, all the external symptoms already described. There is ao evident outpour ing of the spirit of God in answer to believing, faithful prayer. Tho moat skeptical, who will but attend aoy of tbe meetings now held In any of the oharohes or other pleoea in this town will be compelled to admit that the hand of (he Lord is visible at work, and that his blessing attends the means ÜBedforbrlngingsinncn to seek hap piness in a Savior’s love. All evangelical de nominations have joiood in this good work, and sneoess—marvellous success—has hitherto at tended their efforts. Every Protestant place of worship In this town is becoming rapidly filled. There are no empty pews now—no unoccupied seats. Every evening the streets are crowded with hundreds and thousands , are wending their way—not to the place of amusement—not to join in the giddy danco—not to attend either theatre or eoncerl; hot with their Bibles, hymn books and psolm-bookS in their, hands, eagerly pressing onwardto the house of God to endeavor to obtain admission in lime, so that they may therein hear instrootion_as to how they shall escape from the City of Destraotion, and at length retoh the Celestial Kingdom. At the ser vioes oondaoled fa the several churches many heave been led to seek pardon, and many pro fess to have obtained it, and aro now going on their way rejoicing.” A correspondent of another paper, speakiog ofßaaharkin, a neighboring district, writes: "Aft a meeting held os Sabbath, in ono tbe Presbyterian churches, while iho fpeaker was oalling on God that the Holy Spirit might de scend as with fire, a flash of llghtntog whloh filled the building at the moment struck the con gregation with awe, and trembling with tenor they prostrated themselves riie floor. The presenoe and power of God'a spirit in a most remarkable manner is beyond doubt It is worthy of note that this work is in a region where there haVe been the greatest in credulity and the strongest prejudice as to ro -vivals. Tm PasBOH xb the Anniano.-— I The moatelg nifiesnt feature of the latest intelligence recsivwi from the seat of war in Europe, is the statement lh|at a French force of ten thousand men has been landed on the Island of Xussin-Picoolo. in the Asiatic. This movement, of which no intimo* tion had been previously given, Is the most de cided symptom which has yet appeared in the plans of the Emperor Napoleon QL, to avail hlm aelf of the discontent of Hungary, in humbling his obstinate antagonist. It presages nothing less important than a project for rousing the Illyrian sea-coast to.revoltnndsr their native leaden; for destroying-Pola, the Sebastopol of Awlriojintha AdrlaUa,and for throwing into disaffected Hungary' all. moans of revo lution, in the form of leaders, men, arms and money. . The port of Pole, once so famous inlhemar atlme history of anolent Home, and-sgsin in the Venetian Bepublio, has of late years become the cradle of the Austrian navy. The Emperor Francis Joseph has spent upon tho place since hleaoceeeion to the throne more than twenty millions of dollars. Its modern dock-yards and fortifications are as fine in their way as its an cient ampitheatre, which, still remains, the no blest and moat complete specimen of the Bomaa circus in existence, surpassing the beautiful ruin of VeronaJa size and majesty, and the Coliseum, in the perfection of ita preservation. At Pale are, or lately were, moored the best vessels of the embryo Austrian navy, with all the vast ma terial of war colleoted by the Archduke Maximil ian since the marine of Austria was oonfided to his charge. The population of these Adrislio coasts are a strange, fierce race, descended from the Usooqoee of antiquity, sailors by inetinet, more Italian ihAn Austrian by sympathy, and retaining still .favorablel recollections of the . prosperity they enjoyed. .^fcCQ r :this part of the Austrian empire ptased jamter the dominion of Napoleon I. The Tyler Case,— The Coart has adjourned without rendering a decision in this case, the question being no important one, and the Judges not having folly prepared their opin ion* upon iU One thing seems highly probaole, vii: that the decision of the Coart will be a gainst Tyler, or. in other words, denying the jurisdic tion which was taken by the U. 8. This, of ooaree, cannot be declared as certain, as no intimation of any sort has fallen from thebeneh, bat U seems hardly probable that the Coart, if intendiog to sustain that jurisdiction, would keep Tyler u jail till October.
