If this is to be accepted as an authentic docu ment, and if Mr. Byrd Gill is not playing tricks upon his customers, and seeking by a startling announcement to draw a crowd of bidders, we are authorized to suppose that these "six likely Kongo Africans" are either part of the importa tion of the Wanderer, or elsewome of those pre vious Importations, the announcement of which by the New-Orleans journal!, though received with incredulity at the time, there is now too much reason to accept as correct. Should any mob Africans be actually offered for Kale, and should they be = purchased, that transaction, according to the law as recently laid 'do= by Mr. Justice Campbell, in his charge to the Grand Jury for the Southern District of Al abama, will be a violation of the laws of the United States, for which both the auctioneer and the purchtuaera will be liable to indictment; while it will be the duty of the United States Attorney for the District to obtain from the District or Circuit Judge authority to eeive the Africans for the purpose of delivering them to the President of the United States, to be re turned to their native country. As Pres ident Buchanan professes a great horror of the revival of the African slave-trade, we trust be will cause this matter to be looked af ter, and Mr. Byrd Bilk and any other parties implicated, to be held to a strict account.—N. P. Trib. TICS DOXOLOOT 18 MI LORD'S PRATER.—The I Doxology in the Lord's Prayer ("For thine is the Kingdom," &e.,) is one of those passages about which there has been a diversity . of opin ion as to its genuineness, for centuries. The same can be esid of numerous other passages of the Holy Scriptures. The vindication which the Daily Advertiser of Saturday makes in behalf of &gentlemen of this vicinity, as having first "furnished to that paper the statement, from his "biblical learning, extensive and thorough," exhibits one of those common- errors which we erupt to commit when we discuss subjects not within our direct line of study. The gentleman In question we presume would be among the last to claim any originality of discovery here, for no one can open an English Commentary (Scott, Doddridge, Whitby, &c., Sc.,) without seeing the subject fully stated. The Doxology as given by Matthew, is omit ted by Luke. Stich variations must exist in the Four Evangelists, else their gospels would be identical repetitions, one of another. A wis dom higher than oars arranged it, no doubt, so that they should differ enough to secure the ef fect 'of four different witnesses while no serious discrepancy in things essential should occur. Our Lord, may have repeated the form of prayer on different occasions, at one time and another omitting the Doxology. The object of one Evangelist seems to be, to give the form com plete; another states it for substance of doc trine,—the part which ho gives indficiently il logicfling the proper subjects, and the spirit, of prayer. The external evidence for and against the doxology is conflicting, as every scholar knows. So with multitudes of 'Cases, where the internal evidence and the doctrine of probabilities decide in laver of retaining rather than cancelling the passage. Doddridge sums up all thus: "It so admirably suits and enforces every preceding petition that I could not persuade myself to omit it." Now if debates and doubts as to the genuine ness of particular parts of our Canon are to prevail, and ail parts are to be omitted about which manuscripts differ, and learned men have disagreed, the question of any use of the Bible will be settled very soon, for there would bo no Bible left to the common people—Boston Cow .
