Two other victims, one of whom, to is fatally wounded, were borne to their afflicted families. The work of exhuming was progressing when we left the ruins, at about half past ten A. N. The bodies of three more victims were visible and were being extricated se rapidly as possible. Of the dead, we learn the names of Jacob Ileminghofer, John Connors, Brien Grattan, and Henry Pettingale. The name of the first is differently given as Jacob Mickelkeefer, but in the distraction of the hour and the absence of his friends, we could not thoroughly determine which name is correct—though the former op -pears to be. He is a German and was a pattern maker, living on Second street, between O'Fallon and Ashley, where ht has a family. John Con ners was a fireman, eltgaged at the refinery but four days since, and leaves a wife and five chit siren living on the east side of Maine, near Cat amble street. Ills body was shockingly mutilated and scalded. _Wien Crahan was also a fireman, and leaves a wife and two children living near the foot of Bates street. Henry Pettingalo was, webolieve, a machinist, and has a family in Illi nois. Hewes taken alive from the ruins and laid on the floor in the rear of the Mechanics' Exchange, 'where medical aid was administered him, but In vain. His brother appeared at the scene, and on the event of his death, telegraphed the sad intelligence to the-bereaved family. Of the surviving victims—surviving when we left. the ecene—we have the names of Michael Reef, Julius Albrecht, Robert Cook, John Barns and ----a- Holdroff. Reef is fatallYhealded, his case'being considered quite hopeless. He has a wife and four children. Albrecht will probably survive:-Xok is an apprentice aged 18 years, and lives on au alley between eourteenth and Fifteenth and Biddle and O'Fadon streets. "" The pecuniary loss to the establishment will be !teary, but it is estimated by the proprietors as inconsiderable compared with the loss of life, the physical suffering and the bereavement in volved.—St Loma Dem., Saturday. A PIIIIJUIT Case.—The Summit County Bea con gives the particulars of a somewhat remark able trial for perjury. In 1856 a heavy fire took place in Akron, is which among :other property I the office of the Beacon was burned up, and the total loss of property destroyed was estimated at $30,000. Nearly a year elapsed before the discovery of I the Incendiaries.- Bowen & Barber occupied a basement room in the block, for a grocery and meat store. They were insured for $lOOO, though their actual stock at the lime of the fire , was probably less than $2OO. From the dis- cicomres of another party, it was ascertained that one Natney, living some distance from Akron, fired.citie building, and had removed to Northern Indiana. Matney was arrested and brought back, and confessed the whole offair,—that be was employed by one Jones on behalf of Bowen & Barber to fire the store, and was to receive $25 for the job. Ills narrative was confirmed by corroborating circumstances. Bowen, Bar- ber and Jones were arrested and jointly indict ed for procuring arson. hiatney, separately in=j dieted, plead guilty to tho arson, but was reser.- ed from sentence, au a witness against hie con fetti rate.. To his amazement, Jones denied circumstantially the storyle had before told and asserted the very contrary. In spite of this, however, Barber and I Bowen were found guilty, and Jones was at once arrested for perjury committed in the case, mid i his trial at the late term resulted in his cenvic- ' • lion also, in spite of efforts by perjury on the part of confederates, the Beacon alleges, for his acquittal. Thus, -four of the parties concerned in the ar son are now in the Penitentiary. A woxca the local Weals of New York papers is Mentioned the dreadful death of a person na med Selina Stinson, formerly of Connecticut. She was once a rich widow of the class so nu merous in New Vork, kept a faehionable boarding house and lived in splendid style. In her possession were found several letters addressed to highly respectable mer ' chants, and one to her brother, all imploring as -81111/111C8 in her wretched slate. She had won dered, penniless, diseased and emaciated about the streets of Now York, meaning to find shel ter in the hospital, but before reaching it she died alone in o cold dreary building, and will now probably be consigned to Potter's Field.— Sic vita.
