A large number of visitors taking advantage of snob gorgeous weather, went to the grounds where yet the various things which have been on exhibition held their respective places. The mile of machinery, over which our worthy friend John D. Batley itai exercised such perfect control for the week, and where be hoe served with so much fidelity as to win a deserved com pliment from the manigeinent, Still kept up Its buzz and whirl until eleven o'clock. The morn ing hours of Saturday were in fact the best time we have bad, fir feeing.all that was on the ground. Within, the horns ring a band of crick eters were playing a lively game during the morning: It we a friendly contest for a silver *Up; offered to the Winners by the Society. At the time of this writing we have-not learned the name and the etyle of the euocessful party. Do ringlitiwtrolemorning, goods were movingfrom the grounds in all sorts of vehicles. The signs that the game was up, were evident on all bands. Exhibitors were about the grounds, some furious on account of the neglect which they alleged they bad received at the handset the commit ices, some not at all troubled about any thing, and some of them jubilant pier the premium, they had received. Each "is the way of the world. Messrs. Tunny' & Adams had on the ground the Young America Seed Drill, a very neat and simple machine; which Mr. Minis ossured us no committee of judges bad ever approached, and which, at the time he spoke to us, he was not advised had been so much as mentioned or referred to in the report of any committee. These thiogs being so, eomebody is chargeable with neglect. That machine deserved consid eration, and would attract attention in any fai in the world. We were rejoiced but not at all surprised to learn that Mr. Hann, stationer. bookseller. rinter sad •pnblisker, corner of Second and Market street, get premiums, - diplomas and special mention. The committee in this depart ment.say : "The oommittee would neglect their duty did they not make special mention of the fine dis play of W. S. Haven. Among hie specimens of book-binding, paciphlets, plain and fancy print ing, blank books and ruling; were some of the 'finest we have seen. The Allegheny Cemetery Report, among his pamphlets, was in composi tion, press work and paper, faultless. An in tricots piece of ruled work, executid for the Pa. R. B , was done with an aeouracy and neatness truly surprising. His display of printing and writing paper and stationery contained every variety, whdet he also exhibited from the shelves of hie wareroom every kind of blank books, neatly or elegantly bound. We also award him, in addition to the diploma, fie. already men tioned, a diploma for the but display of plain and fancy job printing and ruling." This is - indeed an endorsement worth while. Some of the awards were, however, on quite a small etude, for which there are doubtless good reasons ntrknown to outsider& In all Machin ists Hall, where vast 1160 - r bad been expended, where Mr. Barnhill had spent hie days in erect ing a boiler, where Mr. Bailey and a full corps of .other first class meehanics had been busy for day. in putting up pulleys, in arranging shaft , leg and belting, in sinking posta, and planting I engines, in carrying jets of steam here and !here to give life to the whole display, where Mr. Hamilton hid fixed his strong engine, and Messes. Cridge A: Wadsworth their famous oscil lators, there were but $5l distributed in pre miums, and no modals. We have no right to complain, and it ie not for that purpose we men' tihn it, but-simply and only to state the fact. . Dr. Hake, with his M'George Shingle Machine whligh we took occasion to mention and defend a few days since, took the first premium and di ploma. It is a capital worker and no mistake. Although it was not well geared where it sat, it worked welL Mr. Price's Dining Saloon was not in opera tion an Saturday. This was sad! Although the carrying away of articles was commenced early In the day, the animals on the ground were retained until afternoon, when a grand procession of them was made around the ring, the succeneful ones bearing their cluster ing honors thick upon them. By the way, we are informed that one pair of horses which were shown in the ring on Friday, sold immediately afterwards for $BOO. Some bulls and cows which were in the cavalcade were magnificent in their shape and proportierm, and worthy the at tention of the beet judges of clock Upon the whole, we feel Justly proud of the encases which Pittsburgh and her sister cities of Allegheny county, and the farmers In our vi cinity, have pot Into the hands of the State So ciety. - They came out of the great oily of Phil adelphia with a debt on their shoulders, and If we are correctly informed, they have not only paid all their debtaand premiums, but cleared $2600.
