Derbs shire, E. A. Sender and E. C. Biddle. Mr. Thomas was introduced by Mr. Cosgrove sad proceeded, in a speech of about an hour's length, to present the views entertained by the Committee on the subject of the Tonnage Tax. tie advocated the repeal of that tax in a very able and lucid manner, but presented no new argument on that subject; and we regretted to hear Mtn undertake to justify the discrimina tions male Ly the Pennsylvania Road against Pittsburgh, and which Ire Pittsbnrghers eon shier HO unjust and unwise. We had hoped to see this Committee prepared to unite with ns in endeavoring to accomplish the removal of these unjustifiable discriminations. Mr. Derbyshire followed Mr. Thomas, owl presented similar views, and Mr. Sender follow ed in a few words of like import. Mr. E. Campbell offered the following reenhi tiOn : ResaLred, That while this meeting have no de sire to express at this lime any opinion on the subject no frankly diseuesed by our visitors, yet we bail with pleasure the movement of the:Phil adelphia Board of Trade in sending this Com mittee to visit us, viewing it 5.3 the initiation of a system of commercial and social intercourse which, if continued by both cities in the same spirit, and by agents of equal ability, frank ness, and urbanity with those now representing our sister city, must, contribute largely to the removal of supposed existing asperities and jealousies, and thereby to the mutual advantage and prosperity of both Philadelphia and Pitts burgh. Dr. Gazzam elated his impression that there were no asperities existing on the part of Pitts burgh towards Philadelphia, and at his sugges tion the word "supposed" was inserted before "existing asperities." The resolution was then unanimously adopted. fter various suggestions from several gen tlemen, the meeting adjourned until to-night at 7.!, o'clock, when it will assemble in the same place and the Pittsburgh aide of the question will be presented for the benefit of the Com mittee.
