Charch in tbe accepUtnce of the Basis, and by the subse quent action of the Associate is pro posed that the following resolutions bo presented to the respective Synods, and, if agreed to, (hat tbe union of these two branches of tbe cborch shall ho consummated according to theso reso lutions. The reverend gontleman waa.procecding in tho discussion, when— Dr. Cooper, chairman, called his attention to the fact that tho question was on the acceptance and not on tho final adoption of the report. Father Seroggs moved that the report bo re committed, with instructions, but after a con versational debate and an appeal from one mem ber, Mr. Seroggs withdrew bis motion, and thereupon, tho vote being taken, the Report of the Committee was accepted with great unan imity. Rev. Moorhead then moved the adoption of the Report, and, the motion boing seconded, the Committee on Union were called'upon to state tho circumstances atteodiog tbo adoption of tho prefix to tho preamble. Dr. Beveridge stated the grounds of his opposition to the report, and read the preamblo that had been discussed in commiltco on'Thursday, but which had been finally rejectod, He was followed by Dr. Rodgers, who detailed the facts under which tho report had been adopt ed in committee, Dr. Beveridge dissenting, and then proceeded with much feelingand eloquence to advocate the union.
