The primary meetings will bo held in tho town slnpa betweennho boars of 2 and 6 o'clock, i*. m., at tile usual places of holding such meetings and in the Wards, Boroughs and Precincts, between tho hours of 4 and 8 p. it. By order of th* Cummittr*, ROBT. _P. Nevin, OJiainxmi. Tnu larißWAtiY.—We havo been furnished with the eighth annual report»of the Pittsburgh Infirmary, Rev. W. A. Passavanl, Director. The report of the Board of Visitors shows a deficit in tho receipts of the institution for the past year of $1,145 38. This balance has in port been advanced by Mr, Passavanf, and in part borrowed on his own responsibility. The Board directs the attention of the benevolent and philanthropic of our citizens to this fact. o “It is surely enough to expect of Mr. Tassavant ! (be laborious personal attention which he has at all times been ho ready to bestow, without lay ing his slender revenues under contribution to defray current expenses. Wo appeal with con fidence to a liberal publio for such pecuniary aid as will enable him noL only to meet tho deficien cy of the past year, but likewise to carry on the operations of tho Institution without embarrass mont during the New Vcar.” Three vacancies exist in the Board of Visitors, occasioned by the death of Henry tlrafl’— the icsign&tioii of George Weyman—ami the re moval from tho Slate of;Wm Larimer, Jr. The duly of filling these vacancies devolves upon the Court of Common Pleas, and will no doubt, be discharged in n manner satisfactory to the In stitution. By Iho report of Mr Passavant, we learn that the Institution has been in existence nine years, and tho number of patients received in that time is 2003—€00 during tbe three yean covered by the report. Of the latter, 419 were discharged, . cared, C 8 greatly improved, 9 unimproved, 3 for improper comluct. 4 left without permission, <>*.> died, au»l 27 remained in tho Institution on Jan uary 1, 1858. The results of medical treatment, especially wtiea Iho nature of'maoy oflhe diseases and the dying condition of many ur Ihe patients when taken into the Institution, is considered most gratifying. The principles* of tho institution havo been strictly adhered to with regard to tho religion or nationality of the patients. Persons of every creed and nation wero admitted, as shown by tho tables. During tbroo years, an unusually large number ofpatientswith chronic diseases have been under treatment. These are generally excluded from other hospitals on ac ronnt of the expense of I heir maintenance, but the result of the course taken by this institution is considered as having fully justified all the labor Of d toil, hi cases of infectious and con tagious diseases arc reported—principally small pox and a malignant form of the typhus fever; of Ihe former, no less 1 han 20 were under treat • menl at the same lime With three exceptions, all recovered. The list of annual subscribers has considcrally diminished, and needs alargeincrease to furnish substantial relief. No change has been made in the medical stair oince the last report—the 3ame physicians, Drs. Brooks, Lange, King nnd B. Arthurs, dividing the year among (hem, and daily visitiDg ~the Bick in the Hospital. Thctr services are whDlly gratuitous. .An acknowledgment is given of tho services of those excellent Christian women to whom is committed the management of the domestic of fairs of tho Hospital, and the care and nursing of (ho sick, “Were it not for their labor of love, their unwearied attention (o the paiienivits doors would probably have becttclosed." The report also contains, a number of tables —of the nativity, religion and diseases of tho patients; receipts and expenditures, donalions, Ac.; an extract from the charter of the Insti tution, and an abstract of its rules and regu lations. . • v b . ~ Th* Second Cmmcn Propertt. —The con gregation of the Second Presbyferian Church, held an adjourned meeting yesterday evening.’ to hear the report of the Committee appointed to examine the several lots offered forsah? to the Trustees, upon which to erect their new edifice The Committee reported as follows : Lot.
