Lawrssce, K. T., Feb. 2, 1858. . She Board of Commissioner*, {constituted by a special aot of the Legislature for the purpose of investigating the frauds committed at the elections held on the 21st of December and the 4th of January last, have demanded thepelurns, but tip to this date, were unablo to procure them. Calhoun refused to produce but part, keeping b&ct the Delaware Ferry poll-books, while Hen derson was in custody, charged with adding about SOO names to the list, which returns sub stantiate the charge. The Board; of Commis sioners-now sitting in this 'place, issued a com plaint to the Probate Judge of this connly, ask ing him to place in the hands of thoBheriff of Douglas, a warrant fur the purpose of searching Lbc Surveyor-General's office and adjacent bond ings,'in quest of said election return*. Yester day, Sheriff Walker, by some “ecull-duggery,” unknown to yours truly, learned that they were under a pile of wood near the Sureyor-General’s office, and this day proceeded; with a posse of tenor twelve, to .that citadel- of corruption— Lecompton. The chief clerk.protested against their search, but by order* from the Sheriff, the wood was soon scattered, the earth removed, and a bos disclosed, bearing the following in scription on the cover; “Gen. L. A. McLean, Lecompton, K. T.” On onp'end vras marked ‘•Star candles." "E. u. WflJba.” The triumph ant party soon brought the box to Lawrence, where it was plaeed in the hands of -the Probate Judge, who ordered it opened in his honor’s presence, and in the presence of Gov. Denver, the Board of Commissioners, the President of the Council and the Speaker cf the Uousc of Representatives. The Legislative hall was used os a Court room, and was literally jammed by the members of the Legislature and eager spec tators. The box contained five large rolls of poll-books, from the different precincts of the elections held on the 21st of December and on the 4th of January lost. Among the rest were the Delaware Ferry returns, which the judge of election swore, while in custody, before Cal houn, the President of the Council, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, while they were counting the vote, contained but S 9 votes. ftluriatir Arid; The poll books from that precinct show 390 votes. Henderson must have added all over 39. Gov. Denver, and the speaker of the Hoose and president of the council, were sworn, and exam ined the returns, and certified to their being the returns of elections held on the 21st of Decem ber and the 4th of January last. They will undoubtedly show the free exercise of the elec tive franchise by Kansas democrats, upon being examined by theism mission*** lh(Tctmimissioner3. The ‘•mgS« m pile,-” which the democracy rtereted li midnight, has certainly been fonnd thb time | The commissioners' inresUgation at Dztwd. 5-2- A letter from Charles Myerv of Olathe, Jo&»- son county, who was appointed by the Legisla ture to take the census in tho precinct of »>x ford, announces the result of his labors in a letter which reached here to-day. He found the legal vole of that populous city and precinct to be Tinnw-TtißE*, eerentfen of which are Fret State in politics. The fact needs oo comment. lsvxsTtOATisa Comuittkk.— This body is bolding its session in this place. It has before U Sheriff'Jones, DieffcndoiT, (Calhoun’s brother in-law) and Hie election judges of Deleware Crossing, i Jones’ testimony did not amount to much, of tistn VjAf i>amc tnalle oat l>y them. Tljkl the certificate appended to the forgeries was taken off the gen uine returns, and appended to the fraudulent. The guiltj of this forgery rests between Calbonn, Isaacs, Henderson, Franklin and Dieffendort. There ip; some hopes of identifying the hand writing. The names in tho returns of tho Ktek spoo election are mostly copied from the Buffalo city Directory. Cincinnati is again used for Oxford/ and Shawnee, while Deleware Crossing is s mixture of the two. McLean hns succeeded in making his escape, and is now in Missouri. -Denser has issued a requisition sn the Governor for his person, and also upon President Bueben an forlhe body of JohnColhoun, now in the oily of Washington. //This requisition is mads upon Bachansh as lift Chief Magistrate of the Dis trict of Columbia. It does not seem possible that Deuverxcan bo retained in office a great while longer. Though in general very non committal, yet this last set must stamp him ns an abolitionist, in the eyes of the Adminis tration. Lxcoittna Corarr ASD Lrcoupros.—There was a Tory large Democratic meeting at Wil liamsport oh the 6th inaL, the Court House being crowded io excess. The object was to give expression to ‘ the feeUng of the people on tha subject of the LecompUm constitotioufor Kansas. _ Henry Whits, Esq., presided, and speeches were made by Clinton Lloyd, Judge Eldred, George While, 11. C. Parsons, and C. D. Emery. All theso gentlemen, and, indeed, all the multitude that attended tho meeting were the warm personal and political friends of Governor Packer and it was undonbledly designed as a demonstration of tho Stale gorernment upon this exciting topic. Judge Eldred offered a eeries of (resolutions, which were adopted with greet unanimity and mneh enthusiasm, a couple of which We copy as specimens: Resolved, that the admission of Kansas, as a State, under the so-called Lecomplen Constitu tion, would'be a violation of the principles and pledges of the Democratic .party; ia direct eon met with the Cincinnati platform, th, Kansas Nebraska net; tho inaugural address of the President, lfit premiers made lo thepeapUin 1856, and present jublie opinion, because it is noto rious that said Constitution is not the work of the oltixens of that Terrilary, nor has it been bauctioned by a majority of them, bat is a bant ling conceived in sia.and brought forth in in- I Huotved, that In oar opinion, the admission of Kansas under Olio Lecomplon Brand will not localise, bat nalionOUie the question, and be such an act of aggresalpn and wrong ns will jollify resistance, and product a general civil war. Mxa»whi«, CAißotm keeps the returns of the late elections in his pocket, resdylo decide either way, as circumstances may require. To crown all, tho Blchmond South and the Wash ington Union alternately bully the opponent* of Lecompton, - and boast -of their own strength; while in more than one quarter, we boo hints, broad and distinct enough, thrown out to the effect that the members who will not be driven mutt be bovaht. Among many intimations lo this effect, take the following very direct passage from the Washington lelter in tho Ledger of Wednesday last: “The matter is now In the precise condition in which the Executive influence may be:nest available and decisive. The shaky and heeita lina Democrats are marked, and may be brought into the ranks. A larra Executive patronsge Is vet undisposed of.
