Corrarpondcnce oflho Fitubnrgh. Oalette.] Harribbcrq, Jan. 5,1858. Eds. Gazette: Both houses ore now fully or ganired and h&Te appointed conunitteos to in form the governor of that fact. Mr. Longaker, a radical democrat from Montgomery, is the speaker of the house—receiving the caucus nomination last night and the whole democratic vote to-day. A high compliment was paid to CapL Zeiglcr, of Butler. He received the united vote of both parties for the chief clerkship of the house—all the members present being 93. He appointed Wm. F. Ticking, of York, a tall, leuthy specimen of .the German population of Eastern Pennsylvania! his assistant. The west got none of the transcribing clerkships, except that of Brady, of Jefferson who filled the some post last year. The other minor officers are not yet filled in the House,.but will bo to-morrow. G. Nelson Smith, of Cambria, the defeated Democratic rival of Lpngaker was very, bitter, in private last night after the adjournment of the democratic caucus, but swallowed all his indignation and arose in tho House this morn ing and nominated Bongaker. Thomas StxuthenMiC Warren, justly regarded as one of the moat honest and intelligent Re publicans of the House received the votes of the vote standing 10 to 10. Longaker received 58 out of G 7 votes cast in that of the democracy. The proceedings in both houses were to-day of a tyme and even listless character. The liquor league in Philadelphia are already upon the*ground. They have two agents, Zor racher, ex-president of the liquor league, and Msj. West. They brought with them a most obnoxious bill, it proposes not only to repeal the present general license ; law and substitute that of 18di> in Us place, but also to repeal the “ Lunacy Law” as it is technically called.
