THE MASSAE4SETTS ELECTION. —According to The Boston Prat, in nil but four towns the vote for Governors stands as follows : Banks, Rep Gardner, Am Beach, Dem.. Swan, Straight Rep Scattering Banks plurality over Gardner...... 23,763 The other candidates on the State ticket with Mr. Banks who are all elected by majorities a thousand or two less than his, are: Eliphalet Trask, of Springfield, Lieut-Goo.; Oliver Warren of Northampton, Secretary of State; Charles White of Worcester, Auditor; Moses Tenney, jr., of Georgetown, Treasurer; Stephen Phillips of Salem, Attorney-General iti place of ex-Gov. Clifford. All the eight Councillors but one are Republican. The Senate (complete) 'stands Republicans, 33; Democrats, 4; Americans, 3. Tho Rouse stands ICI Banks, 34 Gardner; and 311Demo 7 crabs. Nine districts to hear from. Among the members of the Legislature is the Hon. Marcus Morton, who was twice Governor of Massachusetts by a majority of one. He de serted the Democratic party which so nobly stood by him, year after year; in the old days of Whig and Democrat, and went for Gardner.— His son Marcus Morton, jr., n Republican, is also a member - of the House of Iteprosensatives elect. We also notice the names of Caleb Cush ing of Newburyport, late United States Attorney General, who was in the Legislature 3d years ago; the lion. Julius Rockwell, Gen. Wilson's predecessor in the United States Senate; Charles W. Upham, President of the last Senate, and James H. Duncan, who were recently members of Congress. Phelps, Speaker of the last House is elected to the Senate. Charles Hale, of The Boston Daily Adrertizer, is re-elected from Bos ton, and Robert S. Rantoul, son of the late Rob ert Rantoul, jr.,,represents the town of Beverly. DEMONNTEATIONS OF THE UNEMPLOYED. A very large meeting was held in the Park yester day of persons whom the pressure of the times has thrown out of eniployruent. Several speeches were made, marked by a violent tone and a men acing purpose. A petition, prepared by a com mittee appointed at the meeting, was sent in to the Common Council, demanding employment upon the public works, and the adoption of Mayor Wood's plan for selling flour, Coal, at wholesale prices, The Common Council *ere warned, as "guardians of the pence and good order of society," that "they mat find work for the people, if individual exertion prove not sufficient,"—and that if one of their number •dies by st arvation or exposure to the elements," they will be held responsible for not "doing their duty after being warned." They also had an interview with Mayor Wood, who cautioned them against any violation of the laws and urged them not to disturb in any way the pub lic peace. These movements, at this early season, are certainly indicative of serious find perilous ei periences during the coming Winter. The leaders in these demonstrations, as their names show, are foreigners, and their action, besides alarming the whole community, will be very likely to arouse the special hostility of the Na- Live American sentiment, which, however it may seem to have fallen off in its political strength, is still very earnest and very wide spread in the public mind.—X. Y. nnfs. Bow vim ELECTION WAS CONDUCTED IN BAL- Tlhlollg.—Tho Baltimore Sun, speaking of the election, says "Violent demonstrations were made in several instances by parties rallying under the flash names of the dulls. Voters were frequently beaten and driven from the polls, and the complaint was almost universal that naturalized citizens were either excluded from voting or experienced the Ottnost difficulty in depositing their votes. In several instances members of the special poliis went to the mayor's office and resigned theiv commissions : others simply removed their bathos and retired with a mortifying sense of their inefficiency. RESULT OF SITE KANSAS ELECTION.—The case is clear since the fraudulent returns of Oxford precinct and ➢l'Gee County were rejected. Par rotha majority will exceed four thousand, and as for the Legislature that is thoroughly Free State. In the Senate the Free State men have two-thirds-9 to 4. In the House they have 114 to 15, not quite two-thirds. Rut, says the Leavenworth 74mes, (Free State) "as soon, how ever, 6.9 the Legislature convenes, the returns will be properly purged, and the legally elected members admitted to their seats. When this in done, we shall have n two-thirds vote in both branches." 'Tun London Polly makes an important announcement. it understands that the French Government have decided upon rescinding the prohibition against the export of corn and flour from France. To this step they are impelled in consequence or strong remonstrances from the agricultural districts. One likely effect of the measure, according to the Daily Nara, will be to precipitate a fall in the English Corn Markets, which are already depressed by the high rate of Interest, coupled with the accounts from America. KANHAR.—The Free Slate men who have struggled hardest against the Missouri opprqs- Rion are beginning to renp their reward in gobd fat offices. Parrott, the only lawyer who can be found to defend the Free State treason pls oners, is elected to Congress. Capt. Sam el Walker, the:bravo commander of the Lawrence militia during the war, is elected sheriff of Douglass county, and has been duly sworn in to succeed the notations Jones. Q. W.
