IVALscra.--Ft•om , the accounts iu the New York papers, received by the Illinois, we condense the fallowing. 'rho i correspondent of the N. Y. Time, writes: ' i Our last advices from Walk= were up to the Ilath April, in the shape of a rumor that he was confined to only two houses with all his force, and that he could hold out but a few days longer. This was not irholly correct. . On the 4th of April, Walker burned all the buildings except three composing the Itrart I of the city, which he could defend. On the Ilth of April, the Allies . attacked, Walker's fortifications, and after great loss, fell back to their lines. 'They threw .an immense number of ball into the city. and undertook to get possession of it by assault. Walker claims that they lost 500 killed, and 70 prisoners, who fell into his hands, while his own loss was only two.killed. The Cronin', fie Costa Rik, speaks of this battle os au unfortunate one for the Al lies, and adds: "The los• was grave on both sides." From this time up to the 27th of April, there does not appear to have been much fighting, but deserters were constantly going over to the Al lies. On the 27th,.70 of 'Walker's men and 17 officers deserted to the Allies, just as the firing recommenced upon the city. On the 28th, the firing against the city was continued. On the 29th, it was augmented. On the liOth,t 'onamande r Davis, of the United States'sloop-of-i-:kr St. Mary', appeared in the allied camp, dud commenced negotiations with Gen. Mora for the surrender of IValker and the remnant of his force. At this time the force of Mora besieging the city amounted to over 2,500 men. The Tribune says the hopes of the Fillibttsters were greatly sustained by the constant expecta tion of relief from Col. Lockridge and party on the San Juan River, who were, daily looked for. Of course no correct intelligence could be ob tained respecting his situation and prospects, as all the avenues of approach front that quarter were in the hands of the Allies. But as day after day no news came from the San Juan, the garrison-in Rivas began to despair and were fast losing their spirits, when information was received that Capt. Davis of the United States sloop-of-war St. Mary's had seized the schooner Granada, containing half of all General Walker's ammunition. Then, in view of the hopeless prospect before them, the design of retiring from the country began to be entertainetb— Meantime Capt. Davis proceeded to the seat of war and endeavored to urge the contending par tie's to come to terms. Gen. Walker, after pro longed and painful consultation with his officers, concluded to' enter into stipulations with Capt. Davis. and he subsequently surrendered to him as an officer of the United States Government. Tho Allies were not named in the instrument.— By a full understanding, however, the retiring forces were not molested by them—one of the Costa Rican Generals att coiling Walker and his staff through the lines of the enemy, a hostage as it were. At the instance of Caps, Oasis the women and children, numbering about 711, were remov e d from the camp on the 20th of April.
