The weather yesterday was disagreeably oold,
bat notwithstanding, the turnout of visitors was
large. *any additional exhibitors were upon
the ground with their wares. Wo continue be

One of the moist notleable features in the Hall,
and one that attracted the most attention, is-the
- Sewing Machine of Mr. iltobt. Straw, clothier,
corner of Market street and Second. It was
kept in operation during the entire afternoon,
and of course a large crowd was constantly
around iL Though several years in operation,
the public seem not yet to fully appreciate the
immense advantages of the machine. The one
we now allude to took a largo silver medal and
diploma of the Pennsylvania State Pair held lag
year, and is really deserving. It is called Sing
- see Patent, straight action, perpendicular needle
sewing machine, and is secured by letters patent.
It executes in the most perfect and satisfactory
manner, tailors, boot; shoe, gaiter, harness,
eaddle, shirt, onset, carriage trimming, cap
. matting, hat bindings, dress making, costuming,
glove-making, stockinet, carpet-bags, truss whip
and upholstery work, &c., &o. We direct the.
- epeeist attention of every visitor to this
-chine. • •
In the Carriage line, John South, the well
known manufacturer, corner North Common and
Federal street, Allegheny, is as usual among the
-- first, though the rough weather prevented him
bringing ont Ms finer carriages. Be has, how
ever, on exhibition nine vehicles, which for neat. - .
nese and elegance are not surpassed. Among
them we .notice a beautifully finished hickory
buggy, with shifting top, width enables the ve
hicle to be turned into an open or covered one at
the pleasure of the occupant. It is very hand
somely finished. Another beautiful baggy at
treated mach attention; It is completely•lined
with silvered leather, and is silver mounted. It
is a Prince Albert- There is oleo a very elegant
open buggy and a sulky. Several barouches
finished in the moat tasty manner attracted much
attention. Mr. South nes established a reputa
tion through the entire west for the excellent
quality of his vehicles, and his trade in that di
rection has increased to_ a large extent. Oar
readers Should give him a call.

exhibited, ea applied, near the end of the right

These articles are made for his usual tale, and
not expressly for the eake of Al effect' at the
Fair. His Pock of other furniture is large, and
well-mode—all at reasonable pHoes. Bealdes
being a No. 1 may and perfectly sound, he has
H. H. Smith, of the firm of H. H. Smith & Co.,
No, 70 Smith-Third street, Philadelphia, exhibts
near the Mower, his Great Western Corn Sheller,
separator and cleaner, which is really deserving
the attention of every visitor to the Grounds.
These machines are built for horse and hand
power, respectively. They shell, separate and
Olean the corn at ono operation. The machinery
isenbetantial but light. The hand power eheller
is upon an entirely new principle, very simple.
It is fed by a hoppor,.—tbe only machine of the
kind eo fed. There Is nothing about it to break,
is when a piece of wood or trstono gets into it,
a epring attachment so yields that it is thrown
out without damage. It is capable of shelling
two bushels of corn per minute—a feat not
equalled within our remembraeoo. Mr. Smith
announces his determination to aceomplish this
to-day. ills prices are as follows: No. 1 single
hand sheller, shelling and separating 200 bus.

pally to attach power, from 300 to 500 bus, $35;
No. 3, ono horse power, 1000 bus. a day, $46;
2 horse power, 2000 bus. a day, $75; the Great

The Agricultural Steam Fern ace is a decided
curiosity, as it is in operation, with steam op. It
1011 the rear of Mechanics' Hall,and will be readi
ly observed. It is a steam boils, having pipes,
Safety and stop, cook, and can be used with the
greatest convenience and economy for cooking by
steam, any kind of food for stock, heating water in
any quantity in tubs, barrels or vats, and will sup-
ply steam, at the least possiblecost, for warming
buildings by means of pipes, and is probably the
most convenient and cheap apparatus for eteam-
Mg timber ever invented. It is about four feet
' high, having a furnace eighteen inches deep, the
fuel of it being sufficient to generate steam for
two hours. From the top Issues two pipes, di
verging to each aide from which the steam issues.
The safety cook is so arranged that the boiler
cannot burst, as a nut prevents the supply from
being more than half out off. It Is a great in
' volution. Moore. Scott & Hedges ; corner Main
and Water streets, Cincinnati, are the manufao•
titters. These same gentlemen exhibit also the
famous- Improved Little Giant Corn and Cob
whiehls provided with triple sets of crush
ers and double grinding surfaces--or In other
words,,is two millsin ens. Of these the proprie

Among the ploughs, oar friends Messrs. Hall,'
& Speer; corner Penn street and Cecil Alley, no
cupy a worthy piaci, as they always do, not
only in, point of number but In the quality of
their implements. They exhibit some seventy 1
varieties of plows, cultivators, &e., adapted to
all soils and uses, embracing every improvement
and valuable hint. They are the pioneers In
the plough business in this city, and their rep/.
tation, with their Wes, extends, as it deserves,
through the whole Union. The Iron Centre
Draught plough, for which they have secured a
patent, Is universally known. We hope our
readers, as we feel confident they will,will spend
a due proportion of time at this collection, feel
ing assued, even if they do not feel a practical
interest in them, they will gain a vast deal of
information in relation to the plough business of
the city.
' The well known firm of B. C. AJ. H. Sawyer,
Wood-st., Pittsburgh, occupy the very first stall
in Mechanics' Hall, with a_ brilliant display of
soaps and candles;—the former in every shape
from massive cakes of variegated cacti's, with
the name of the firm neatly inlaid, and aspen:t
om:us Goddesses, to the more ordinary but eyes.
metrical cakes. They have Barbers' Soap, Pure
Pain, Honey, Transparent "Ball," Later saving,
Variegated, White, Red and Blue, Statuary,Sign,
White, Settled, Chemical White, Chemical Yel
low, Olean Oxide, or German, No. 1 Palm, Ro
sin, Mottlied,Run and Soap Powder. In the Can
dle line, their etoek embraces every variety:—
Mould, Dipped, Sperm, Adamantine, Star,
Coach and Hotel. They also exhibit Lard Oil.
Them was 41 large crowd around the stand all
day, and it will be a prominent one during the
fair.
L. 0. Cameron exhibits in Meobanice Hall,
several Galvanized Iron Portable Ovens, which
are warranted to bake with lean fool than any
other oven - in use, and which received the prize
medal of the Ohio. Mechanics' 'agitate, May,
1 , 1865. The material from whioh it is manoria
-1 tured is a non-conductor, and the oven to con
structed with air chambers. The beat required
IS generated within the• oven. Oar limits will

impress upon our readers the pleasure they will

The Iron City College makes a very beautiful
display„ at the entiince to this Hall. There
are epednens of every etylo of Penmanship,
Plait', himinees, and drusmentni. There are also

collection through he entire day, and every
