Dawson, of Pa., &rim the Comm :tee on Permanent Organisation, r eported for President, Gen. Joni E. The distinguished gentleman who yesterday presided, the connecting-link between the past and the present, bad carried them bank to a period when the Democratic party was ac customed to assemble and go forth to do battle with a great and gallant party. That party, with the issues that divided us, has passed away. Br all tholreouotrfaholooes OWL" Others of that noble band who still survive are with us to-Any, to take part in oar delibera tions, and go forth with us to battle for the Con stitution and the Colon. But, this great party passed evilly, we find ourselves surrounded by dangers before unknown, and our land, from nd to end, convulsed with factions. On one elde are men who will admit foreign born oilivene among us only on, condition of serfdom. They would dictate leis that power should be held only by those who bow before the same altar with themselves. They hold that they only are fit for power who approach the throne of grace after tho fashion they themselves prescribe. On the other aide is a faction only more den prong because more numerous, than the first A faction with liberty on their tongue, bat with treason fostering at their hearts; who pro fess love for the Union. only that they may bur ry in the ruins of this Union, the glorious mem ories of the past and the hopes of the future. This faction is formidable only in case of the maces' of its attempts to unite against the Demo cratic party with the first The National Dementia party have met to day to" appoint standard bearers to tarry on war against these factions. Let ns then come to gether like a band of brothers, to lay on the al tar of patriotism and of the union, a willing sac rifice of personafpreferences, sectional feelings, and, above all, private dissensions. Mr. Bayard, of Delaware. from the Committee on Credentials reported on the Missouri cue, admitting the Anti-Benton delegates. (Cheers.) Report adopted. It was announced that the Committee was en gaged on the New York case, and would report as soon as possible. The Committee was allowed to sit during the 601211011 of the Convention. _boon the re-assembling of the Convention, Mr. Willard Saulsbury, of Del., moved that the Senators and members of Congress at present in this city, be invited to occupy places on the plat form floor. He sold that the character of the gentlemen alluded to, prevents any suspicion of their endeavoring to exert any undue indium on the Convention. Cries of not no I we don't want them there. Mr. Reuben Chapman, of Alabama, moved to amend by Inserting all the members of all the State Legislatures present In the city. Mr. Pettit, of Indiana, moved further to amend by admitting also, all the 11. 8. office holders. Mr. Smith, of Ala., thought that the Conven tion had better invite the public in free, than re serve seats for the Representatives in Congress. The rapport and countenance of the masses of the Democratic party was more important than the favor of ofdoe holders and Congressmen. Mr. 3111allett, of Va., favored the adoption of the resolution, for he thought our Congressmen and Senators are entitled to a seat on the door. The resolution was laid on ths table by a large majority, on motion of W. W. Avery, of N. C. In reply to an inquiry the Committee on Rae dation, stated that they would report at ten o'clock to-morrow morning. Mr. Pettit moved Wadi:Aim but withdrew his motion. Mr. Chllde, of Ct., wished as the Convention had no important business to do, that the mem bers should tell their experience. (Loud laughter and cries of "goon" "go on.") He was a representative from Connecticut from the district of Windham. (Laughter.) Connec ticut was one of the immortal thirteen; she had stood by South Carolina in early days of trouble and still stood side by side in Democratic princi ples with that State. He hoped, as be said be fore, that the evening would be spent in telling our experience and comparing rotes. (Laugh. ter.) The Convention then adjourned until ten o'clock tomorrow morning.
