Soren or Inns Troacis--On Saturday moredig a little boy named Ward no his hoop 'linnet a man named Cross, while walking up Fifth street. Cron kicked the hoop, which bounding bank, struck the lad In the face ; who thereupon commenced crying, which bin mother hearing, caused her to inquire into the oireum etanoe, and inform the husband, who in wrath walked into Crois in a fierce manner, resultirg in a bloody nose to the latter; whereupon Cron brought cult against Ward the father, before Al derman McMaster, for assault and battery.— From this trifling matter we may presume there will.be en arrest, a trial at court, causing much lone of time, expense of counsel, and cost to the county. We do think, a more convincing argu ment in-favor of the Testing of power in the Al derman to adjudicate petty cases, could not be adduced than this statement. As long es people have children who play hoop in such a manner as to interfere with Irascible pedeetrians, so 'Ong will there be danger of assaults. Three fourths of the assault omen tried in Court, are as trifling as this, and learned judges, graduated counsel, and intelligent jurymen are found ne • eessary to deal out justice.
