Massaouturrre.—The meeting of prow bent men in Massachusetts to promote the Republi can movement, of which we have given some account, adopted the following resolutions: Resolved, That the time has fully come for the people of Massachusetts to sot in concert with the friends of Freedom throughout the Union with a view of restraining the alarming' encroachments of Slavery. Resolved. That as a means to this end there should be an early assemblage of the people of this Commonwealth in Mae Convention. A Committee of one from each oormty, with Samuel Hoer as chairman, was appointed for consultation with political organisations, and to call a I%lase State Convention in favor of the fusion movement at early day. The meeting, though not numerotudy attended, wee highly reepectable in character and quite enthusiastic. Tax Ramaloan Movinsxr.—Ae an indica tion of the onward tandenoy of thin movement we may state that in Maine the Hon. Hannibal Hamlin, the demoenttio United States Senator from that State has fully given to his adhesion to the republican party, and at the Republican mass convention reoently 'held in Portland, Maine, fix• Gov. Cleveland, a leading Demo crat of Conneotlout and for several years a mem ber of congress from that State, was one of the speakers, and a letter of concurrence in the objects of the party was read from Hon. Ben jamin F. Butler, a leading democrat of New York and Attorney General under the presidency of Martin Van Buren. Tax Washington (Pa.) Examiner, a democratic paper, is very anxious to prevent the nomination 'of a Whig ticket in that county, and betrays a trepidation concerning it which is unusual, if not auspicious. In times not long past, the democratic party of that - county 'teemed rather to court than avert a contest with the opposing party; but that was when men were really what they pretended to be, and political concealments were unknown. Those who acquire a fondness for guerrilla warfare seldom relish a hand-to hand contest in the open field. Tun Bissell—Sonora Rtax.-- , The river at this point commenced running on Tuesday, and a considerable amount of drift-wood came down with the current Intelligence immediately came that the Missouri was swelling very fast from the heavy rains prevalent in its vicinity. The lower end of that river was rising, at last ac counts, at the rate of. two feet in twelve hours, and is probably still increasing at the same ratio. All the tributaries of the &Deiced are - full. On Tuesday night the river commenced rising here more rapidly, and up to 6 o'clock last even ing, the total rise was about ei feet. Tester - • day morning the river. presented a wild appear. ance. The drift-wood had inormeed in quantity, and some large trees went down with the cur rent Numerous skiffs went fishing for wood, and are reaping- a plentiful harvest The rise was so sadden and unexpected that several lots of freight, grain, &c., were caught, and found .partly submerged in the water, yesterday morn ing. They will be damaged, of course. The swell still continues unabated. Eight feet was the last report to Cairo, but the swell will al ready inermuse the water three feet to that' point. We have no news of the Mississippi rising above Keokuk, and the last arrival reporte thirty-two inches on the Lower Rapids. The Illinois wen also stationary at last accounts. We may, how .eyer,...look for a rise in the Liner Mississippi and Illinois rivers, es rains have been ,plente ous all through the upper country. The pros pect now is, that we will have a good stage of water in all the rivers, for the fall trade. Ar rive& :yesterday were numerous, and receipts fair.—Weather warm and rain-like. 27. Rise is the Miuouri Rasa.—The first intelligence we had of the late rise of the Mis marl river, was brought by a 'steamer which re ported • swell of two feet on Monday night. Since this, there has been no arrival by river. We learn, however, that on Tuesday the river rose from eight to ten feet, and that'll - was ris ing at' the rate of three inches per hour yester day. We are not yetapkrieed of the distance this rise extends up the river. The lower end at least is' already high, and is the 'principal lowa of the. rise at this point.
