Teachers hal iog the "Temporary Certificates" will be required to have them exchanged for the .Provisiduar or graded certificate lately provi ded by the Department--and insamach as the ' farmer Superintendent, was obliged to grant '.Professional" or permanent certificates, before the blank forms for the "Temporary" were re ceived--it is suggested, that these alsobe renewed or exchanged for others, as the Department has made it a part of the duty of the County Super intendent, to primptly annul such certificates when found in the posteeseion of those who prove lobe entirely incompetent. The Superintendent, on application, will be happy to renew the certificate, of all those indi vidnals with regard to whose qualifications hi is amply satisfied. Directors (especially of the rural districts) should examine each certificate before giving employment to any one. As a Bargeon Dr. Bunting exhibited the most nossummateekill. -He ammeisted with his pro legislated attention the utmost kindness and hn .msnity to the suffering soldier. . 'Tnplaces of the greatest danger, Dr. Bunting was always to be found. , He consulted bi 3 own safety, never, and his own comfort only when the Comfort of others had been folly attended to. Tea very pleasant friend and companion, a man of few faults and many virtues—this tribute is freely given, because it is fully deserved. Resolved,. We take the following remarks with regard to _the meeting from the Philadelphia Ledger: This body, composed of teachers, county super intendents and friends of education, will hold its semi-annual session ip Pittsburgh on Tuesday, 7th August next, and the two following days, The etessione of the Associabou are annually be coming more_interesting and valuable, and to their influence may in part to attributed the in creased attention given to education in parts of our , Comnionwealth. At the meeting in Pitts burgh two yearet ego, the proverbial hospitality of our western metropoileorfas extended in the Moat cordial manner to those in attendance. The dwellings of the citizens and the public in- stitutions of the city were freely opened, and excursions planned and provided with a liberali ty which drew the warmest acknowledgements front the Philadelphia and other guests. This year a cordial invitation to be present is extend ed the friendi of education generally. Excursion tickets; good for the week, wilt be furniehed at a redooed fare, and en opportunity afforded of enjoying the river and mountain scenery along one of the wildest ancluoit picturesque lines of travel in the Union. Tar remains of Timothy Murray, the young man, who was taken sick with yellow fever while on his way home from New Orleans, and who died at Louisville on Sunday evening last, were followed to their last resting place yester day, by a vast concourse of citizens and firemen. TELEGRAPH IC • Primanm.sarre, July 19.—There was quite an exciting scene yesterday,at Walnut street wharf, on board the Ferry Boat Washington. A Vir ginian, on his way to the north to embark for Central America, had with him a female slave nod ber two.-tong. On being informed that by the laws of the state she was free, the woman expressed her design to obtain freedom. The master made some opposition, but the woman's newly-found friends being strong enough over came every obstacle and succeeded just as the boat was leering the wharf, in placing the wo man and her children in a carriage, and drove off with her amid the cheers of the crowd that had been drawn together by the occurrence. The Virginian stseed that be was minister to one of the Central American Goverment& Nsw ORLIIIANS, July 19.—The steamer Nautilus arrived here with itrowneville dates to the 11th inst. Gen. Woll left Matamoras on the ith and assumed command of the forces at Regnnra, which amounted to 1200 or 1300 men. The re. volutionsits, nnmbering 2500 men, had taken Camargo and wore marching on Regnoss where a battle was consequently expected. Gen. Cas tro with 500 troops removed to Matamoros .The revolutionists issued a decree declaring all sup porters and punishable with death. The Caballos tariff of 30 per cent. sdvalorum is in force at all Rio Grande ports. Raw Year, July 19.—A melancholy accident ocovirred on the Erie Road, near Ilovrell's depot, yesterday. The Locomotive of the Dunkirk' Ex press train going west, ran over a wagon croes 'lag the track, containing a man and woman. The woman, Mm. David Wheat, was instantly killed, and the man, Mr. Arnsby, Mapes wan severely injured; Be the latter is nearly seventy years of age, his recovery is doubtful. Wasamorox, JalXy 19. Smith, clerk in the Richmond, Northampton county, Post Office wan arrested to-day at Reading, Pennsyl vania, by Arthur Hughes, special agent of the Poet Office Department, on charge of robbing the mail- He tionfeseed to taking a letter con taining $4OO addressed to an eastern bank. When arrested he was on a pleasure excursion with a young lady. BAterntons„ July 15.—The American State Convention, in session yesterday, nemiated IL Purnell, of Wrocebter county, for Comptroller and David L. McPhail, for Lottery Cbmmissloner. The nominations were made en the first ballots. The Philadelphia platform was endorsed, and the candidates being waited upon accepted the nomi flans. The proceedings were very harmonious. Swain and Moorhead were elected man- — BIIITALO, July 18.—A matt was shot on Mon day night while in the act of committing bur glary, and was SO severely wounded as to be pest recovery. Upon examination, the wounded I man woe aleiTered to be a carpenter, who has heretofore been considered a respectable citizen. It is now supposed that he is the person who has committed several burglaries which have to ken place at Erie. PHILADELPHIA, July 19.—A large fire broke out yesterday in the woods about seven miles from Absecon, N. J. A, considerable tract of land has been traversed "by the fire , and a large quantity of timber destroyed. The fire was occasioned by a spark froma locomotive on the Camden & Atlantic Railroad.
