Clana.l, embracing Sheep tot Wool, report that they entered upon thew ditties with a sincere desire of doing eiinal jus tice to exhibitors and 'of promoting the great object of the society, • improvement, In at tempting to accomplish this object we were con strained to avail Ourselves of the privilege con ceded, of keeping each breed of sheep distinct and of awarding premiums to the hest of each breed. Tho several breeds of the different long wooled sheep have each their own advocates, and also have their own peculiarities and merits, fitting thorn for different situations and purposes, consequently each class should be tested by. its own merits. In addition thereto it should 4o the object of the friends of agricul tural improvement to encourage the importation and improvement of alldhe venous breeds which have commended themselves to the favor of oth er sections and countries. As respects long-waded sheep this-position is the more important and apparent from the vast ly increased demand for the coarser qualities of wool, Which bits sprung up within a few years, for the manutpxture of new kinds of goods. It , should be a s'dbject of much•gratulation and ea-•. couragement to oblerre_and foster the enterprise and intelligence evinced by the increased num bers and superiority of this class at the present Fair. In awarding premiums the committee have been governed as regards the fine-wooled sheep, by fineness in connection with the weight of fleece upon a carcass of healthy form and good fattening qualities. As respects the long wooled varieties, !might of fleece, early maturi ty. easy kept, 11110 of carcase, istmounection with good form, were deemed of more conse quence. In accordance with these views we re port ns follows, viz: lbw- pooled shter. Best Imported French Merino Ewe, let prem. 11 W. Wilson, .510,00. Best native French Merino Buck, lot prem., 11. W.
