New YOZIZ POLITIOS—Lams FROM PRESTOS Num—Hon. Preston King, one of the ablest., most upright, and most Plollnentlal members of 'tho.Democratio party in New York, thus expres es his opinion in regard to political prospects in a letter to a friend: OGDENSBURG, Battu%lay, Sept. 16, 1854 Dean Sea: Your letter of the 9th instant, is received. The condition of yelitical affairs, so far as party organizations and their conven tions are - concerned, look, and really are, about as bad as they can be. Indeed, I doubt whether any effectual rally can be made in this State upon any organized action this fall. I Cannot say, and I suppose it is uncertain, what the ad jdurned Auburn Conventiore will do. My opin ion has been against a seperate nomination by that Concention, from the apprehension that the pub lic were not prepared to receive a-nomfluation therefrom, and that a nomination was not expec ted from it when the delegates were elected to go to Saratoga. It seems to me that the prier entparty organizations and divisions must and will work out their own end and destiny in the election this ,Fall ; and that to the future we may•hope for a sounder and better condition of political affairs. I have great confidence-that in the next Presi dential election men that agree in priciple, will be able to set together, and thus by natural af finities form Is permanent party, thoroughly de voted to the cause of freedom and of republican principles. There are thousands in this State who will vote this Fall entirely independent of party • organizations or • the advice of conven tions ; and even this condition of things will perhaps to make- the county and district elections more sore against Nebraskaistn. We must hate patience and courage, and resolution, and persevere ourselvei \in doing what is right under any circumstances. • The elections show a correct condition of Public 'sentiment on the great question between.freedom and Shivery. I trust New York dill, in the best andanost prac tical way, demonstrate her favor to the cause of Freedom. And if we do not get any organized movement, each man will do it in his own way.
