Yee, this. miserable, pettifogging Whig party re-endorsed the Fugitive Slave Lay/ in the convention which nominated Pollock, and yet In the face .uf these notorious facts, the Oartife of this city hie the astonishing audacity to ask-for its candidate the Free Soil support. If there be any greater-ex hibition of impudence-on record than this, We have no knowledge of ih—Lfnion. This is simply false. The sWhig - Convention of 1854 did not, either directly or indirectly declare in faVer of the Fugitive Slave Le.w, and the greatest exhibition of impudence on record is the assertion of \ the Union that it did. The mis erable, pettifogging creatures who control that 'paper, to whom nothing comes amiss, from a mendacious editorial down -to a slaveltunt, may sniffle about their devotion to truth and -fair dealing; but one thing seems Certain, they dare • not and cannot tell, the truth about their oppo nents. Their whole course during this campaign has been charaCterised by miarepresentaion and trickery, without one redeeming act of candor or The Pittsburgh Post exhibited a greet amount of indignation, mot long since, becarite negroes were admitted-to vote by the late Legislature of Connecticut. it could . not endifro. the idea that a negro should be treated as a man, and charged all such heresies upon the Whigs. We ask its Attention, therefore, to the following, whirh we fuadin the Bedford Inquirer. , "The Pennsylvania Legislature, (Locofoco in both branches,) last 'winter paased a new Coal men School Law, allowing Negroes, where they have in any DiAriet, over twenty scholars, to have Schools of their own,, the teachers to be paid out of the Common School Fund, and where they have less than twenty scholars, they are to be admitted into the schools with our own chil dren on terms of equality. This bill is - now.the low of the Commonwealth, with the signature of William Bigler attached to it." The Pittsburgh - Union 'asserted the other day that Judge Pollock would not get the Know Nothing vote, but. that: distinguished body (of which the editor of the Union is supposed to be One, frri . m his speaking no knowingly of their movements,) 'Would vote for . Bradford. The Philadelphia Sun, on the , contrary, (and the Sufi is both a Know Nothing and 'Native American papeT•) gives quite a different account. It says: "Mr. Pollock will receive the entire Whig vote, the entire Anti-Nebraska rote, the entire Know Nothing vote, the entire Temperance vote, and rt. - portion, of the American vote." very evident that either the San or the Union must be miatakexi. It would he_a tern• ble catastrophe to the cause of truth if it should turn out that the immaculate Union had been indulging in a little fictidn on its own account.
