SENATE.—A resolution passed for adjournment from to-morrow to Monday, and also that when the Senate meets on Monday it will adjourn un til the Thursday following. The vetoed Insane Land bill was taken up.— Mr. Bunter spoke against the constitutionality of the bill. Mr. Foote supported it. After other unimportant business in executive session the Senate adjourned. (louse —The bill providing for the survey and sale of the public lands in the territory of Kansas and establishing a land Mike therein was re fused. Mr. Cutting desired to bring np the adjourn ment resolution, but objections were mado and the Pacific Railroad bill was considered in com mittee. Mr. Perkins, of Louisiana, commented on the address of five New York Representatives, and defended Mr. Soule. The authors of the address respentled, pend ing which a message was received from the Pres ident, announcing that he had signed the Ne braska bill on the 30th. Bainmone, Mny 81.—The New Orleans papers of Thursday contain the details of tho late Mex ican news. The !mounter Banta Anna's victories over Alvarez appears to be that he succeeded in mak ing o retreat from Acapulco to the catM3 with out being overwhelmed by the Revolutionists. The correspondents .or the 'papers do not credit the government accounts that the Mexican army has-been divided to operate upon the lim ited territory to which Alvarez was confined, and with the bloblenle or Acapulco. The official accounts say the revolution 'Must die of its own accord. A conspiracy was discovered on the 10th in Fort Son Juan d'Ulloa, the of of which wits to assist in the liberation of .Avalon, who was confined there. It was crushed and one of the lenders was shot. Intelligenoe from Texas indicates the corn.. meneement of n general Indian war along the frontier led by Wild Cat. A private letter from Crittenden, in relation to Ide connection with the Ward case, is published in the Now Orleans papers. It says he neither did nor said anything that was not within the strict est limits of an honest and honorable discharge of Professional duty,.and that his judgment and 'feelings approTed of bin course. Bosrox,May 81 The Pugitiie Case was resumed this morning. The room was quite full, and the crowd outside largely increased since yesterday. The . Hon. Joshua It. Giddings, Wendell Phillips, and 'The odore Parker were in the Court ;porn. The wit nesses examinO were called by the Prosecution to rebut the testimony given yesterday, which asserted that Burns was in Boston previous to the-date of his escape alleged in the indictment. Their testimony somewhat vitiated that given yesterday. The Ilovernment also offered the prisotiers ownadmission as to the limo he left Virginia. This was objected to by counsel on the other side. -The Court ruled that the prisoner's admissions 'could be received. ..Mr. True,\of •Ittetnovod, Va., wan then examined, when the case for the prosecution closed, and Mr. Dana commenced the closing argument foi the de fence. flosrox, May 31 The examination of eleven persons arrested in the riot, on Friday last, and also charged with the murder of Bachelder, has been postponed until Friday next. - The Police Court was crowded when the pris oners were brought in. Mr. Ellis eoncluded his argument and introduc ed testimony for the defence in the Burns case.. The first witness examined, swore positively that Le saw Burns, the alleged fugitive, in Boston on the lot of March, and employed him on the. 4th at the Matewan Iron Works, South Bosten.-- ilia testimony to this effect was corroborated by Mr. Brew, the book-keeper of Matewan Iron Work.. Both witnesses were closely cross-exam ined, but their testimony remaimed unshaken.— ;The testimony so far, is convincing that Bums was in Boston three weeks beforethe date of his escape. -as ailedged in the complaint. The gen eral-opinion is that he is really the - slave of Set tle, but that a fatal error in dates has been made in the comphliut.
