'lnnis, to nominate candidates for the offices of Canal Commissioner, Auditor General, and Bur. Tryar General of the Blate,essembled today, at 12 o'clock, in the Rail of the Renee of Repre sentatives, pursuant to the call of the State Cen tral Committee. The Convention was called to order at 12 o'clock, amid much toil and tumult, by Mr. Wine, who moved that the Mon. Arnold Planter, of Venango, take the Chair. - . Mr. Wire put the cliention amid cries of "or der," 'order," and great confusion. Mr. Fraley, of Schuylkill, mooed to amend the motion, and that the Hon. John Cessna, of Bedford, take the Chair. . • The utmost confusion psevalled for some time, and both Mr. Plainer end Mr. Cessna were con ducted by their friends to the Speaker's Chair. Mr. Cessna, after a time, and when order bad in some measure beeto restored, eipressed hie regret at the some which bad been 'caned, and besought all to act with calmness and decorum. To settle the difLculty an to the chants of Chair man, be proposed the appointment of tellers to count the votes. The motion was put nod agreed to,and tellers having been appointed, the vote for a temporary Chairman was again taken, and resulted in Mr. Planter receiving 66 votes, and Mr. Cessna 64 votes. The matter of the contacted seata was then taken up, bat one only—that of the contesting delegites from Montour and Columbia counties— occupied any considerable time. Tho question of the admission of the Repro !tentative delegates from the counties of Montour and Columbia being before the Convention, Mr. Valentine Best, of Montour, advocated his right to his seat, and discussed with mach mi nuteness the circumstances attending Ms ap. pointment, and the shadow of a claim, only, that Who eat op by hie conteutant. Mr. John Deco, of Columbia, (the contesting delegate,) replied at length.
