BY Reaussr or Ramat. BLIRGTXIII. Till CONOILISSIONAL :give, this morning,' the speech of the great Magyar at the Congressional Dinner In Washington, to gether with the brief but important esyinge of some of our distinguished &stamen. The speech of ilossuth is of surpassing beauty. pa: thee, eloquence, and power, and will be read With Interne Interest. The speech of Mr. Webster shown that hie heart was touched, and yearned-earnestly to wards his Illustrious friend; but he did not sur render. Had he made the same declaration which Gen. Cue made, Kossuth might bare re garded his work as accomplished. The declaration made by Gen. Cass, that be is "in favor of intervention, to sustain the great national law which prescribes' that one power shall not interfere with the domestic of. faire of another," and that "hew coaling (*vote for ouch a declaration factories'," is highly im portant as coming frOm . one of the chiefs of the party to which be belongs. Genater Douglass made a similar declaration, with a characteris tic soling clause,. which in reality amounts to nothing. • It, is manifest that the generous outburst of enthusiasm for Kossuth and his came through out the country, an enthmiasin which has risen !superior to old party distinctions, and in a-great measure obliterated them, at lout for the time being, is beginning to tell with great effect up •on politicians and upon Congress. Events in Europe, since E,qusth came to this country, although apparently adverse, have really favored the-canoe which Kossuth advo cates. The feelings of the people against dm potism have been deepened, as the danger which menaces the freedom of the world has ia creased, and a solemn sense of our responsibil ities as o nation, at this great juncture in IM man. affairs, is taking strong hold of the great national heart. 'The despotic combinations of Europe agabasi their own people, and against every nation In which the principles of liberty are clotrished, are working their legitimate ef fect; by creating a desire for emelt:Mations of en opposite character in defence of those prin eipiva. Mercy, Justice, Patriotism, Prudence, and Self-preservation, are all beginning to point in the.erune Disantintas or blinstarsurs.—Tbe Nary has l ,oll:e beam favorite arm of the publio de fenee, and, in prospett of approaching- troubles in the Old World, is Likely to betome on interest of the vary highest itOpOrtaliCo to our leg exis tence ai attation. What right has en accidental political ,majority in the Senate, or both Houses com bined, to equander a quarter of a million of dol lars of the public funds upon these two party favorites? It is rumored that en arrangement has been made by which another print, posed to have some strength and Intinence in Congress. has traded off its pretensione to the Union, in consideration of ,a bonu or two from the carcass of the prey. I have always looked with disgust end contempt upon these com6lna tioes to bleed the treasury, under any pretext whatever; and I shall never cease to denounce' them. It is said that $210,000 in profits were' divided between three •cr four establishments here in printing the returns of the census of 1840, four-fiftbs of which at leant might have been eared to the government, by accurately describing the work to be done, and parcelling it mit in convenient quantities among printers willing to take it, at priers ascot for ghat kind of work. Let that course be pursued now, under the direction of the Secretary of the Interior and the Superintendent of the Census, and I ppedict that the tables of the Seventh Census will be printed in a style superior to any speci men of printing ever executed for our govern ment, to that the work will be a credit to the nation; and that the cost will be leer' than half whet it is proposed to pity. to the proprietors of the Union. I attribute nothing dishonorable to these gentlemen. They are in a poeition to avail thenieelyes of the partiality of a powerful party, and have only to stand still and receive what democratic menitcence it waitlngto pour into their pockets. Being nothing more than men, they submit to fate, and stand devoted victims to the bounty of their friends. Ido not censure them, but I condemn the system which enables, nay, sat:host compels such thingis to be done. Hossuth's evident dejection is eald to proceed from the distressing intelligence that the brutes who now rule Austriu and range Hungary, have seised his venerable mother and hie two sisters, and consigned them to the celli of a Viennese prison. He alluded pathetically to this cad news yesterday, ip hie reply to the in vitation of a Plumber of icititens from Alezandris to visit that place. To-morrow he will visit the House of Representatives, where the proceed, Inge, no doubt, will be similar to those in the senate.. Today he receired s deputation of tiler cler gymen of Waahington and Georgetown, compri sing, I believe, all the atittisters of Protestant congregations In both cities. The clergy of the Sourish Church, (often erroneously called Cath olic,) who In this place are pious and learned men, and have the charge of numerous and re spettable flock', have not, so far, shown GOT. Kossuth any 'Mention. 'There would be noth ing noticeable In this, if the omission did not appear to be port of a preconcerted design among the clergy of that denomination. Well, I am in forarof the largest pollti4l as ran as re ligious liberty, and desire also th every one, whether of the clergy or laity, shall be free to exercise his own taste as to his suoclations. To-night the Hungarian will be a great at the Ant monthly assembly of the ileum, a go; and grand affair. In consequence of his having been invited,. and 'having accepted the invita tion, the Huai= .IflitLeter and the Anatrian Charge hasp, it is said, declined to anted.— This Ii another ituttancir of the 'bettutiful and easy working ciao? freland.destocratic dots. We respect the eelings of all, but allow no man to dictate or prescribe as to others. It is said that the Committee of Arrange ments far the Congressional Dinner to Kossuth have forbidden the tranafer of tickets issued to the members who , eubscribe from the fear that certain ungentlemanly characters may gain ad mittance and produce a row. 1 would fain hope that there is no ground whatever for such ap prehension, but precaution is commendable.
