Last winter Harmon Stark sold his

April ho was taken sick with kidney
and liver trouble, ile consulted most
of the doctors for many miles around
hut continued to get worse until Mon
day of last week when death ended
his .suffering. An autopsy was held by
Drs. Lnthrop and Plckatd which re
vealed the fact th.it death was caused
hy cirrhosis of the liver. Ho served
In tho civil war nnd was drawing n
pension at his dentil. Burial was made
In the Stark cemetery near Plcrcevllle,
Wyoming county, where the funeral
services were nlso held. Ho was C7
years old nnd leaves a widow and one
son.
Miss Bertha Williams, a teacher In
the Peckvllle schools, has been visit
Ing her parents, Mr. Henry Williams
and wife of this place.

rose, are visiting at the home of Dr.
Plckard and family.
Alfred L. Itlsley ha been sick with
Inflamatlou of the bowels now going on
four weeks. He Is a member of Lynn
lodge No. 1RI, I. O. O. I., and the
brothers are in attendance there every
night.
John Burdlck. an aged man living
near Pleasant Orovc school house wa
working In the hay field last Monday,
when he suddenly fell to tho ground.
Those who weie with him carried him
Into the house nnd sent for a doctor
who arrleved just In time to see him
explte. lie was well known In this
vicinity, and was an honest, upright
man. He leaves a wife only. The re
mains were laid to rest In the family
plot at the Newton cemetery on
Wednesday.
A little child of L. K. Squires was
taken sick oi) Tuesday and died before
a doctor could be had. Cholera Infan
tum supposed to be the cause. Fun
eial and Interment on Wednesday.
There being a shortage In the treas
ury of the citizens hand after the
rourth 'of July, the members will
give a festival and dance on Friday
evening July lfl, to help meet the de
ficiency. The Aid society has very
generously taken the matter In hand
and will give a fcstlal this week to
help the matter along.
Miss Kvnlyn Frozen, stepdaughter ot
Itev. tJ. II, Davis who moved from
here last April, Is visiting friends in
tow n.
The balloon ascension made here by
Oeorge T. MrC'roy, under the direction
of tho Citizen's band was thoroughly
satisfactory In every way, and proved
that he Is up to date and understands
his huslness. The day was all that
could be desired and the balloon went
up nearly In a straight line. The
trapeze performing during the ascent
was good. The parachute drop was
fln, nnd when the ground was reach
ed the distance from where ho rose
was less than forty rods, tho balloon
coming down only a few rods from the
uarachute.
