The sudden death of Thomas Cos grove early yesterday morning In the building at the corner of West Lacka wanna avenue and Chestnut street, was a shock to deceased's numeioud friends. Many were of the Impres sion that the dead man was Thomas Cosgrove, the well known hotelkecper of North Main avenue, who Is a cous in of the deceased. Mr Cosgrove was a single man, nbout 40 years of ace, and resided with Martin Bird, on Chestnut street. It had been his custom to spend his even ings at the barber shop over McCor mack's hotel and when he went there Monday evening the proprietor was out He sat down to read the pap-M and fell asleep. HOSPITAL DONATION DAY. The annuel donation day at the West Side hospital occurs next Monday.New Year's day, and the friends of the In stitution may contribute articles of clothing, money and the necessities of llfo as they see fit. All donations will be thankfully received. The vast amount of good done at the hospital since It was opened Is well known and the Institution is looked upon as one of the best In the state. It Is to be hoped that the donations on New Year's day will be substantial and plentiful. ST. PATRICK'S CHURCH FAIR. A large crowd attended St. Patrick's church fair last evening and spent an enjovable evening. Much Interest la being taken In the dl'pos'il of Rev. J. 15. Whelan's horse, and already a large number of tickets have been disposed of for the drawing. The contest for a lady's gold watch has been taken up by Miss Mary Lar kln, of Lafayette street, and Mls3 Mary A. McIIugh. of Sixteenth street, and the friends of both are hustling In their behalf.
