Joe, the ten-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Lawler. of the Hast Side, was seriously Injured yesterday by fall ing through the bridge over which the Delaware and Hudson railroad passes. Just north of the depot. The boy, with a number of companions, was on his way homo from school shortly nfter mlil-day, and as they were passing the crossing a coal train was Just pulling out. going north. Tho boys Jumped on nnd at the bridge they attempted to alight. Young lawler. In doing so. fell through the bridge nnd struck with great force on his bend on the paved sidewalk, a distance of ten or twelve feet underneath. He managed to walk nearly to his home, some distance away, nnd was then seized with con vulsions. Ho was carried Indoors nnd medical aid nt once summoned. Dr. J. S. Graves, who promptly responded, found the boy's skull badly fractured, a place as large as a dollar being crushed In. The Injured lad was after wards taken to the Carbondale Emer gency hospital, where nn operation wns performed upon him. His parents were informed last evening that the hospi tal starr were of tiic opinion that thu boy would reocver.
