Some time ago Councilman Ollvpr Ui troduced an ordinance nt the Instance of the property ownors for the accept ances of nil streets which have already been graded by the Falrv ov Paik Jand company In that section of the Fifteenth ward lying between Kynon street, Mnln avenue and the Hound woods on the westerly hide of Jjialn nvenue, and between O'connor'! to.irt en the north, School court on the south nnd the tracks of the Hloomrfburg di vision of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western railroad un the east side of Main avenue. Some dispute arose relative to differ rnt grades that have been giocn at different times, and the matur will be investigated by the streets and bridges committee of the select coun cil at G o'clock this afternoon. The committee comprises J. A. Lansing, halrman; Flnlay Koss, Edward James, Peter McCann and Thomas J. Coyne. Common Councilman Joseph Oliver will be present in the interest of the property owners nnd n representative of the Land company will also bo pres ent. The grade given by the city en gineer on the westeily side of Main nvenue will have to bo altered to cor form with the original gtado given to the Land company. The property owners are anxious to have the matter settled on account of the many Inconveniences existing un der the circumstances. Until the streets are accepted by the cltv the prjiirty owners aie without llKht and vv.t'or protection in case of fire. He was a captain there for sev en yeais, previous to his roniing to tills country In 1S?7, and shortly after his arrival located In Amsterdam, N. Y., where he organized a blanch of the army. From there Adjutant Slmrns and wife went to Albion, N. Y., where he was arrested and the case cost the borough $800 for a settlement. He then went to Klmlra, nnd after a short stay tnero went to Buffalo nnd then to Philadel phia. Fiom the latter city they came to this city. Captain Slmins was pro moted to the station of an pdlutnnt while In Philadelphia, and it was In Kl mlra thnt he gained the title of ensign. Mrs. Slmrns Is of Welsh parentage and was a soldier In tho army at Ches ter, England, and nfterwards became a captain, filling that ofllce for twelve years, until her marriage three vents ago.
