Having made a personal visit to New Orange, N. a J., I found the property even better than represented 5 to me. The Ricca Manufacturing Co. is in full opera- 5 g tion. The factory building for the Reliable Silk Manu- facturing Co., will soon be completed, which will em- a a ploy 300 hands. Houses, stoics and hotels are being 5 rapidly quilt, in fact everything is hustling light along a 5 toward making New Orange a city of great importance. 5 Hundreds of people are assuied steady employment S a there and the Association is earning out their agree- jg S ment as to improvements. It seems to me that every- g S thing indicates a very rapid rise in the market value of 5 real estate, and any investment made there must grow in value. Respectfully, H S W. F. BROSS. 3 Ex-Hayor Geo. Joseph Murphy and his company presented "The Kerry Qow" at tho Lyceum last night before an audience that was not an larcc or as enthusiastic as those that were wont to greet Mr. Murphy and his company when ihey appeared heie In former years. Not long nr;o the mere announcement that Mr. Murphy nnd his company were to play here was, Etiillclent to crowd the theater to the doors, Tho public at last scorns Inclined to turn Its face toward other Idols Mr. Murphy v.oh as natural and win ning as ever last night In the charac ter of tho village rmlthy nnd ho had tho support of a very competent com pany, seveial members of whlrh have been with him for soveial seasons. This evening Mr. Murphy will appear In his other famous creation "Shaun lthuo." "Jim, the Fenman." Few diamas have had more endurlne; popularity than "Jim, the Penman," which was produced at the Academy of Music last night by the New England Stock Dramatic company. It Is a diama of Intense and sustained Interest. In which the elltnnxc3 are artlstlcnll led up to. There are no forced situations, even thing Is a logical outgrow of the story of the piny. The company did full justice to the drama lust night. Thnmna J. Quinn was excellent as the forger and Will Mlllei Freeman did an excellent bit of character work as Captain Hedwood, the detective, a part tniido famous by Joseph Holand The other character? were, handled in a veiy cnpable nian- nei. This afternoon "Master and Man will be repeated and tonight the beau tiful southern diama, "Alabama," will be the attraction "My Fiiend fiom India." The story of "Jlv Friend from IndPa" tersely told, concerns the attempts of a Kansas City poik-packer to fou-e his way Into New York socletj, through the medium of an alleged Indian ms tlc, who has fnllen Into his hands bv nccldent Hippies of laushter like the first breath of nil appionchiiicr gale It self breaks and sweeps In gusts over the audience. The thlid and conclud ing' act Is pel haps less violent, but abounds In the same bubbling humor From all paits of tho countiy the most flattering leceptlons of tho plaj aie re corded, and It Is upon the nuthoilty of a universal pi ess opinion that wo aro promised the tieat of the season In "My Friend from India." It will be pte senttd at the Lyceum Thursday even ing. Moriison in "Faust." With the announcement that Lewis Monison will after this senson discard "Faust" naturally atlses the question, "Who will be the devil In future''" Theologians may refer you to tho Holy Scripture as the only feasible solution to such a knotty problem. Hut In this life, theie is ceitalnly no one who can equal Moirlson in this exacting roll. He has had many Imitators, but where aie they? Echo answers where9 No, there Is only one "Mephlsto" and that Is Lewis Moirlson! He will be here soon to say "adieu" In this gieat character, for other arrangements make it obli gatory for him to appear next season In an entirely new and wonderful creation, the title of which, for obvious lensons Is in the meantime withheld "Faust" will be seen at the Lyceum Filday and Satuiday evenings and Saturday after noon. At the Galflty. LMwnrd F. Hush's Kutopean Sensa tion will be the attraction at the Gaiety the last half of the present week, be ginning their engagement Thuisdny night, with matinees Friday and Sat urday The Sensation Is veiy appropriately named, the olio and burlesque teeming with sparkling conudy and catchy music The company comes direct fiom a recent successful engagement In New Tone Els Board of Tiade Style. Selling for London account was In fact a. smnll factor nnd before tho arbitrage trading was concluded for the day, Ifmdon turned buyer and took a fair amount of stocks In this market. Relieved from that depressing Influence prices mounted upwards eas ily, tho short contracts put out beltior generally covered and the largo bull operators who led last week's buvlnir resumed the movement with grent ap parent confidence. Tho trading was dull In tho latter part of the day, but prices weio quite firmly held and closed nt about the best. Net gains In many Instances reached a point of over and prices on the average entire ly rctt loved yesterday's shary decline. Tobacco was furiously active all day and covered nn extreme range of 7 points. The price was lowered In the morning on the announcement of the Incorporation of a new tobacco com pany with a large capital. But trad ers distrusted tho first Interpretation of this new company and the price was run up on very large transactions, which were largest at top prices. Su gar was held firmly In sympathy with tobacco Pullman sold off 6 points on the Illinois judicial decision, holding that the company's large real estate ownership Involved a 'violation of the charter. The stock recovered nearly 4 point?. Total sales were 310.1S5 shares. Furnished by WILLIAM I.1NN ALLEN & CO , stock brokers, rooms, 705-706 Mears building. Open- High- Low- Clos ing, est. est. in?.
