Tho Clinton colliery of the Delaware and Hudson at Vandllnir is working1 on quarter time. Hernetta M infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Staloy, Is very sick with Inflammation of the lungs. The house of Patrick Bovlan, who resides at what Is known as the "Blaz ing: Stump.Y between here and Rlch mondale, was discovered to be on lire about 11 o'clock Saturday night. As there is no means of combatting a flro there the structure was soon burned to the ground. Very few of tho house hold goods were saved. The bulldlnc; was 16x24 and two stories high, with a basement. It Is not known how the flro originated. Boylan's household gooods were Insured and there was an Insur ance on the house Itself held by a building and loan association. Mrs. George J. Benton, of Carbon dale, visited nt the home of her pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Tyler, on Saturday, Carl Wheaton was in New York last week with the intent to Join Uncle Sam's navy. He would have been a successful applicant but for defective eyesight. He returned home on Satur day. John 'McDermott. who halls from Vandllng, came to Forest City on Sun day to celebrate. About 3 o'clock in the afternoon he went into Dr. Dwyer's drug store and made a demand which the doctor did not see fit to grant. Then tho young man began to use very abusive language. Not satisfied with such n tamo proceeding" as talking, he assaulted one of the bystanders, but only succeeded In being rather roughly handled for his trouble, Then John went out on the sldewnlk and talked from a distance In a most lurid and threatening manner. Special Ofllcer Hrennan happened along about that time and placed tho unruly youth under arrest. He went along with the officer all right for a fow yards, hut suddenly attacked him viciously and a struggle between the prisoner and the guardian of the pence was In progress when Con stable M, J. "Wnlah came to the rescue, MoDermott was sulnlued after an nd monltory rap or two and was lodged In the borough Jail. Yesterday morn ing he was brought before Burgess Walker. His face bore unmistakable signs of the conflict. He was also peni tent. After hearing tho evidence In the case tho burgesa assessed him $11.85 and he was released. James Watson, of Lake Como, was a Forest City visitor Saturday, Seeing But feeling is the naked truth. We apply the naked truth to our Dress Goods. We don't buy Dress Goods for looks alone. We look for stubborn quali ties in goods we buy, that assure satisfactory wear and durability. We don't sacrifice style to get service. Special attention is directed this week to our 60c Redf ern Serges 60c Vigoreaux Suitings The former in all colors, including black. The Vigor eaux in all the desirable mixtures. (onnolk) & W 127 and THE MARKETS. U'nll Street Itericw. New York, March 21. The only fea ture discernible in today's stock mar ket was its dullness. This dullness was the exact reflection, however, of the doubt and hesitation which, prevail in all financial circles over the next probable development In the Cuban question. Apparently there was a lim ited volume of Bales for short account at the opening which resulted In sharp declines to practically the low point of the day. There were lower prices made in some few stocks later In the aimless drifting of the market. Busi ness was, however, almost stagnant after the opening until near tho close when there was a sharp rally In prlcee apparently due to the rebuylng of stocks sold at the opening. There was no spirit or animation in tho rally and prices drifted downward again at the close. There was only a small vol ume of stocks offering all day, but the demand was almost nothing and the result Is that prices are lower all around, losses reaching a point in some of the leading specialties. Total sales were 209,100 shares. Furnished by WILLTAM LINN ALLEN ft CO., stock brokers, Mears building, rooms 705-706. Open- High- Low- Clos ing, est. et. ing. Am. Cot. Oil 17 17 17 17 Am. Sug.
