The report current In Carbondale and
published In yesterday's Tribune that
the Delaware and Hud.son company
was negotiating for the purchase of
the Mnylleld mines of the Hillside
Coal aud Iron company, could not be
verified In this city yesterday. Offi
cials of the company declined to talk
and men who usually know If any such
deal Is afloat knew nothing of the mat
ter. Said one good authority to a Tribune
reporter: "Whatever may be doing be
tween officials of the two companies,
at their headquarters In New York,
I know nothing, but I am positive the
Hillside officials here have not been
Informed of any negotiations. I do
not give much credence to the rumor."
