The report current In Carbondale and published In yesterday's Tribune that the Delaware and Hud.son company was negotiating for the purchase of the Mnylleld mines of the Hillside Coal aud Iron company, could not be verified In this city yesterday. Offi cials of the company declined to talk and men who usually know If any such deal Is afloat knew nothing of the mat ter. Said one good authority to a Tribune reporter: "Whatever may be doing be tween officials of the two companies, at their headquarters In New York, I know nothing, but I am positive the Hillside officials here have not been Informed of any negotiations.
