LMtch, a colored man, was brutally assaulted last Sunday night in Rellly Edwards' barn on Linden street. He uppeared before Aldermnn Howe yesterday nnd swore out war rants for the arst of John R. Lance, George Isidore and a man named Fritz. The charge was aggravated assault and battery. Leltch says that he entered the barn nnd the thro men picked a quarrel with him. Finally the three pounced upon him and heat and kicked him. He stated that he has been confined to bed since the nssault and he could not before yesterday muster sufficient strength to appear before the alder man. Ho fears Inti-'rnal Injuries nnd since the accident he has emitted blood incessantly. Leltch remained at tho alderman's office from S a. m. until 4 p. m being unable to movii from the result of his Injuries. The three men were held un der $300 ball each to appear at court. The big companies will probably not bo heard from for some time yet, as they will require time to get their re turns In shape. Their return was in the hands of the county commis sioners on the morning of Oct. 1. HIT HIM WITH A HOE. fight Among tho Workmen on the Mulberry Street Pave. Patrick Convey, a young man living In this city, was struck on tho head with a hoe by an Italian yesterday af ternon while both men were at work on tho Mulberry street pave. Convey was taken to the Lackawanna hospital, where tho wound on his head was dressed by Dr. A. J. Council. Convey, It appears, and an Italian were fighting when a second Italian came up from behind and brought down the hoe with full force on Con Aey's head. The scalp was cut for sev eral Inches, but the skull was not In jured. Convey va3 knocked senseless. The Italian was taken In tow by two other workmen.
