liavo been noted In Hie city on Satur
day, Sunday and Monday. I.lttlo Wes
ley Fcrrol, about 10 years of age, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Ferrcl, fell
from a back stoop while nt play on
Saturday evening nnd broke his arm
and suffered from a dislocated elbow.
Dr. D. I... Bailey was called and Is at
tending the case.
While at work on Sunday In the Erie
yard, Anthony Cook, of Brooklyn
street, met with a painful Injury. His
foot was oaught between the rail nnd a
turn-taulo so that the bones ot tho
foot and nnMo were bruised and seri
ously injured. On Sunday evening Al
berta, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
John llavtP, about 10 years of age, fell
nnd liroko her arm. Dr. J. S. Nlles was
called and attended to the broken limb.
Ward West, a hoy of About 11 years of
age', was seriously injured yesterday
by falling from a coal wagon. Ho was
thrown upon the pavement nnd for
some time was unconscious. The case
seemed Quito serious but under tho
care of Drs. Kelly and Gillls, ho is now
doing well.
WATER IN A MINE.
When the miners of No. 1 slono en
tered the mine on Snturduy morning
they found a torr?nt ot water sweeping
with great force down the main gang
way. The inn in road was choked and
impassable. It appears that tho men
had been working, near nn old cave
that was filled with water. The wall
of coal had given way so that the wat
er rushed In. The accident fortunate
ly occurred In the night so that there
were no Injuries to tho miners. A
large force of men are at work Rotting
the mine again In a good condition.

Tho excursion of tho Emblem Division,
No. f.7, Sons of Tompcranco, to Lake
Ariel yesterday was ono of tho largest
ever run from this town. Numerous
games nnd amusements of different kinds
were Indulged In throughout the day. Ex
citing games of bnso ball were played
between tho Lacknwnnnns nnd Mooslo
Populnrs, nnd Tnylpr Grays and North
Knd Stars, nnd wero closely contested.
Tho trnln arrived In town between 8.50
nnd 9 o'clock Inst ovcnlng with hnppy
but tired Sons of Temperance.
Mr. nnd Mrs. John Reynolds, of Hydo
Parle, was tho guest of tho latter's moth

popular young man, of .this place, is
nearly completed.
An order went Into effect tho latter
part of Inst week changing tho crews of
the Scranton Traction company on its
Taylor line, and other lines, Including
tho West S!do lines. Several conductors
nnd motormen have been transferred to
other lines. Among them may bo men
tioned Harry Daniels, of Taylor, who hns
been transferred to the Green llldge line.
Mr. Daniels Is ono of tho pleasantest
and most accommodating of the many
conductors running to nnd from this sec
tion. Ills removal Is regretted by tho
numerous patrons ot tho company In
Taylor.
Druggist Joseph Davis left yesterday
on a llshlng expedition. The abovn gen
tleman is an expert with tho rod and line,
nnd will, no doubt, return with a lino
mess.
Tho open nlr concert, given by tho
Taylor Union band on Saturday eve
ning, was largely attended Some excel,
lent music was discoursed during tho

Independent Soclnl club will conduct Its

In the contest between the Simpson
base ball club nnd tho Alumni team at
Anthracite park, the latter were de
feated. Collins, O'Donnell, TIerney
and Ledger were the batteries for
Simpson, while Barrett, Pldgeon and
Kennedy stood for the Alumni. Tho
score was 13-11. Yesterday tho Simp
son t5ain played tho Hor.esdales In the
Maple City. This afternoon the Alum
ni nnd Mnyfleld teams will contend at

BREWERY WAS NOT SOLD.
It had been stated that a syndicate
had purchased from Peter Krantz &
Sons the Carbondale brewery. There
Is no truth In the rumor which an
nounced the sale, the price given be
ing, it was raid, $123,000. Mr. Krantz
declared that there was no thought of
selling. A large four story brick build
ing will shortly ba erected. The pres
ent cajwclty of the brewery Is now be
tween 25,000 and 30,000 barrels a year.
