The speaker laid special stress upon tho contention that by paying close attention to the ear chronic cases can often be materially Improved and lellevcd, advocating that upon the first evidence of any ear trouble It should be thoroughly examined nnd If tho phy sician feels himself Incompetent to take charge of the case he should refer It to some one whom he knows will do jus tice to it. What ho protested against most strongly Is tho neglect of th family physician to give proper weight to the symptoms of ear disease In their ln clplency when a thoiough tieatment would dissipate the pathological con dition. The address was received with much attention. PREPARING TO STRIKE. A General Tio-Up of Bituminous Mines Is Now Threatened. Pittsburg, May 20. In accordance with the action taken at the miners' national convention recently held at Columbus, O., tho miners of the Pitts burg district are preparing for a gen etal strike for the restoration of the 69-cent rate. The miners' officials are reticent, but It is understood that the strike will take place about the first week In June. There are twenty-three thousand miners In the district, but it Is not believed that all of them will strike. Pending the general strike the miners have been notified to stop all individual strikes and to return to work until the general strike Is ordered. DIED, AS SHE FEARED ARREST.
