On May 16 at the First Welsh Bap
tist church, on South Main avenue, the
Welsh UuKixt association f the North
eastern Pennsylvania district will l-e-g-ing-
a three days' annual session. The
Baptist Younff lVopU's union will also
meet at the same time. Preparation
for the reception of the deleRatea has
been in nKivss at the church for sev
eral months past. The delegates will
be many nnd it is customary that the
members of the home church entertain

tion. The conference will last three
days. -

John Walsh Is cnnstuble In Lacka
wanna township in'the district which
Includes the Arehbnld. Walsh wanted
to arrest Tim Quinn for an alleged as
saull. The constable, in looking for
Qulnn on Wednesday night, went intu
the house of Quinn's brother, John,
. The ollicer asked for Tim, and the
, brother-said he didn't want any such
man as waisn uround the pluce, where
upon Walsh was kicked out. He wait
ed until Qulnn stuck his head out of
the door and then he let fall his club.
Qulnn retaliated, and the constable was
worsted. Last night Qulnn was
'brought before Alderman John on the
dual charge of assault nnd interfering
with an officer. He was held in $4W
bail to appear at court. The money
was vouched for and Qulnn was re
leased. There may be two other suits as
a result of the broil. Qulnn is charged
with Illegally selling intoxicants and
the constable charged with assault.
Alexander Weisenlluh charged a Mrs.
Wulsh with assault. The hearing was
given last evening before Alderman
John. The woman was held In $200 bail,
ilntli live on South Main avenue, and
the assault occurred Wednesday night.
TRIPP CROSSING VIADt'CT.
The proposition to build a viaduct
over Tripp's crossing meets with gen
eral favor on this side. It Is argued
that some time In the future the im
provement will cost more than now ow
ing to the probable increase of valua
tion of property contiguous to the point.

York College of Pharmacy, and Is ex
pected home tomorrow. His mother,

South Slain avenue druggist, for whom
he worked two yenrs, attended the
commencement exercises, which were
held In Carnegie Music hall. Sir. Dona
hoe has a bright and retentive mind,
and in a social way he Is courteous and
unassuming. Chemistry is his favorite
study and he may engage In that, in
stead of pharmacy.

Michael Connerton, 6-year-old son of
Michael Connerton, of Fig street, was
run over by a bottler's wagon on Pltts
ton avenue ednesday evening. One
of the front wheels passed over his hips
and Injured him very seriously.
Slartln Conahoy has left Slinooka
again. He spent n week there with
relatives, after an nbsence of fifteen
years, during which time he had per
formed many remarkable movements.
When he was nulte a young man he
left home one day without saying any
thing ubout his destination. A month
biter a letter came from Ireland with
the news he was there. He claims to
have walked enough that If the dis
tance were stretched out Into a straight
line it would reach across the contin
ent.
Will lirown hns opened a barbershop
on cedar nvenue.
The South Steel mill Is expected
to shut down Saturday night. The
rumor is current among the men, but
Is not verified by the ofllciats. When
it started up last week it was for but
ten days.
The South Sldo board of trade will
meet this evening at Storr's hall.

The office of Alderman Policy was the
Bcene of a unique trial yesterday after
noon. A baseball nine of young boys
from Providence and one from Green
Ridge obtained the consent of Sir. San
derson to use his grounds on the cor
ner of Green Ridge street and Penn
avenue ns a play ground for yester
day's game. The boys had started their
gnme and were becoming deeply Inter
ested when Mr. Lnvelle made his ap
pearance nnd raised nn objection to the
bnys plnying there. To make his objec
tion felt more by the boys he secured
nn officer and had them placed under
arrest. When they were brought be
fore the alderman. Sir. 1 (alley, was for
once in his long career as n Justice at a
loss as to whnt to do, but at last de
cided to fine the boys a dollar for play
