Who knows ItrixAßD OP.XEK OIL RitaiON.—The excitement is the new oil region of Dunkard and Whitely zreeks, in Greene county, still continues. The Wheeling lntelligencer states that on Dunkard creel', a few miles above Whitely, there are fifteen . derrloks up, with engines on the ground, and the Parties are either operating or about ready to begin. There are ten other derricks on the ground and re ady to be erected, making twenty-five new mills, all of which will soon be in the process of boring. On the Maple farm, the St. Clair well is pumping, and it is believed that this well will yield largely, if properly worked. It has already produced three hundred barrels. Within a stone's cast is the new Pell known. as the Kramer well, pumping a small but regular stream, and yielding about four barrels Fee day. Within hailing distance of this is the W iley well, which his produced as high as eighty; earreis per day. The Slocum well, a short distance below, commenced flowing. a short time slime, but, in consequence of the bursting of the tubing, opera-, tions have ceased for the present. These four are the only prodnoing wells which have been sunk a llilielently deep, in the opinion of oil operators, to Obtain the greasy fluid. "The Dunkard Oil Company,” of Philadelphia, are now erecting a derrick, and have a first-class tllne On the aple farm ground, in close proxi- M ellY to the famous Wiley Well, and will be ready in a ow days for boring.
