Having been „solicited by the ladies of the United States Sanitary Commission to become an auxiliary, we responded to the request, and organized our association April 19, 1563. We feel it doe the'public, as well as the kind friend sw-ho have patronized us since the formation of our association, to state the progress we have made from that time up to the prdsent. We have our weekly meetings to make tip clothing, and send monthly con tributions of etich articles as are need Val for the sick and wounded eoldiere, 'which' have always been duly acknowledged.' We, have paid four or five visits to Camp William Penn, and three to the Summit House, carrying with us such delicacies as we thought best adapted to the wants of the sick and wounded soldiers. We sent a, very large and serviceable box to the 'con; trabande at Port Royal, S. C.:; one box of necessaries to our first company of colored volunteers at Camp Wil liam Penn; one very valuable box to the 54th. Massa *chesetts ; Company B also received a box which greatly relieved their wants,- one box to the sick a.nd wounded soldiers at Norfolk, Va., which was gratefully received and acknowledged; also, subscribed for the, Anglo- African - fur the sick and wounded soldiers; all of Which we present to the perusal of our friends. We in tend holding a fair for the benefit of our association, commencing on the 19th day of- December, 1554, at Contort Hall, Chestnut street, the proceeds to be de voted 10 the needs of sick and disdhled soldiers.
